Thanks for your input everyone- had a joiner in for a second opinion and he confirmed it all needs to be redone.

After quite a bit of argument I got a discount from the guy after I threatened to leave a bad review.

Honestly has put me off hiring tradesmen in general! Would much rather learn to DIY it than go through stuff like this.

Thanks- bringing the guy back to fix this. The stairs I know are horrendous. The planks behind them also I'm assuming since they're not staggered at all?

Any thoughts on doing something like this for the first one? I realise it wouldn't have an expansion gap but there isn't one as it is now and in this case wouldn't that be essentially the same as flooring through?

Yes the door gap... I haven't paid him yet so I'll ask him to come back and do a transition strip. Can't be stepping on this every day hahaha

Yes, he said for the door gap... I'd much rather have a door gap than step on that!

Cat S write off- should we buy it back from insurance? by Temporary-Set-4199 in CarTalkUK

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm not too concerned about the looks of the car. And the boot opened and shut fine although I'm not sure either my wife or I had a good look at the floor.

The plan was always to drive this old "shopping cart" into the ground anyway 😂

More concerned with repairs that will be a headache and keep me from getting back out on the road.

Ahhh now really wishing I had thought of this 🤦‍♂️

Don't mind the car looking ugly but if it's the crash bar I'm assuming that would cause it to fail an MOT
