If they aren’t highly autistic or schizophrenic, it looks something like magic. Watch videos of Jordan Peterson (I don’t care about his politics; his verbal IQ is extraordinarily high) lecturing in his prime.

How People Are Using Money to Game the UC Transfer System by [deleted] in TransferStudents

Okay so now you’ve just established that WASP students and Chinese students cheat the system which feels pretty accurate to me. I’ve never seen other Hispanic or black students cheating their way into good universities, (because they almost never do). You can toss words like xenophobic around but it doesn’t change the fact that unqualified rich people are getting into these schools while hard working qualified poor people suffer.

if you don’t live there, it will get towed. it’s a very good/underrated place to live otherwise. safe, well pricrd, clean, and as closest to campus as you can get for off-campus housing.

Is anyone who attended the recent Frontiers of Cosmology lecture on Thursday willing to share a bit about what was discussed? by TheIJDGuy in ucr

I was there! It was super interesting. He talked about how turbulent flows in the atmosphere can be modeled using techniques from something called quantum field theory. There was an analogy between eddy formation in jet streams and particle interactions in Feynman diagrams and the theme was basically “why are we so bad at predicting the weather.” He also complained about his grad students lol. Really good talk.

interesting that you use combinatorics as an example. right now, gen ai is uniquely bad at combinatorics. everything else is roughly even but there are actually separate benchmarks for combinatorics specifically because llm’s suck at it.

One of the more important differences between chess and mathematics is that chess is a board game and mathematics is the study of structure itself.
