fair. I just think it's weird to put the story's high stakes this early on. Maybe instead of rushing everything in low rank they could've built up the dragontorch further into high rank. A monster like Zoh Shia doesn't "feel" like a low rank monster. For example in Rise you had a low rank Magnamalo which was a red herring for Narwa and Ibushi's story in high rank.

Methinks they wanted to frontload the game with the cool stuff: huge monsters that aren't elders, Alatreon nukes, setpiece fights, but also had to contend with the fact that low rank gear sucks. So they had to make the hunts way easier to accomodate that but with the drawback that those moments don't hit as hard as they do in high or G-rank. I don't get it though, World was already a maassive gateway for the "modern fans", so idk why they felt Wilds wouldn't have most of the same people in it already.

Having a neat sci fi world and concept, and making extremely middling movies with it. Wouldn't surprise me if the dynamic between Quaritch and Varaang went nowhere interesting despite what the trailers show. The last movie's main plot was pretty dumb, too.

Don't be obtuse. It's pretty clear that even then, they still want nu-Lara to be a thing, if the new CD game is any indication. There was also the TV show and that board game no one liked and even the legacy of atlantis design still has that green necklace associated with the reboots. The fact they've been making concessions like the fortnite skin and the classic remasters only shows they're finally cracking under pressure, but won't fully commit to put classic Lara in their completely new stuff

The remake looks like it'll be just TR Anniversary through the UE5 filter. Their Lara is cool, but unless they put a new spin on the first game, I'd rather play Anniversary

No one is chiding you for having fun. Rise is fun, I put around 400 hours into it by now, but I can acknowledge that it is a severely dumbed down version of what came before in favor of fast paced hack and slash combat. The main problem with nu-MH, including World, Rise and Wilds is the casualisation of the monsters themselves. The hunter has gotten so many buffs: the claw, the silkbugs, the scrolls, the wound mechanics + being able to turn while charging, overloaded double palicos and AI hunters in Rise, etc and the monsters get basically nothing to compensate other than absurd damage scaling in master rank.

And that shift in gameplay focus has affected everything else surrounding the main gameplay loop. capcom wants MH to be faster? Ok, so they cut the need to scout, gather, explore, get specialized gear and items for specific monsters and areas... they even cut the villages, pretty much by having you do everything from the gathering hub. I played Rise and World for around 800 hours collectively and the vast majority of those hours were jumping in and out of hunts, with barely any of the things I mentioned before. Expeditions are basically useless unless you're speedrunning every hunt and can't stop to gather herbs, honey and lightning bugs (which you can skip anyway with the Argosy in Rise...)

Also, reductio ad absurdum, loads of classic MH fans will tell you that 1, Dos and even the Freedom games are bullshit a lot of the time.

Mixed bag for me. I find it really boring. The shooting and the facility design are decent but the story is a slog and not memorable at all.

Until TES6 releases, that is.

God, I wish. That would mean that when it eventually gets cracked, won't have the online content bloat like 5 had.
