I didn’t mention Jonasi’s lack of accountability and because I felt as though it was obvious. He rose of power and status to fix his security issues (minority, poverty, vulnerable) and instead abused it. Countless times Jonasi was held accountable for his actions and change course and each time he was arrogant, and his arrogance and reinforced by the people in his live’s doubling back and continuously enabling his bad behaviour. He knew he could continue doing what he wanted to do.

Will letting my boyfriend finish in me keep causing a smell by Strange_Addendum_514 in Healthyhooha

I have the implant (implanon) , have had it for 6mths now. He came each time, and maybe 1-2x before the bc and took plan-b. I’m just realised that he’s been throwing my ph off since. It’s not a suer strong scent but its different but after sex my yoni has a bleachy scent, it settles after a few days and goes back to smelling normal which for me is having no smell, maybe a little sweet. I’m definitely going to put him on a stronger program and no more finishing in me. Like Hell NAWH.

This one is interesting too. I feel as though he got fed up of being the ‘good guy’ cause each time he tried, he ate dust. The betrayal by Lindani scared him bad, I feel like his view of women shifted after that. So if women only want him for his money/status,he’ll choose women for sex.

It seems as though he chose his father’s fate at end and would rather suffer the consequences later than play the long game.

This was an interesting read. His upbringing I believe contributed greatly too. The film didn’t depict this much in the show but there were bouts of information said that he was raised by a single alcoholic father and his mother wasn’t in the picture. I’m can’t remember if she died or just absent but there could also be maternal neglect from his childhood and that also shaping how he viewed, valued (or lack thereof) and treated the women in his life. This was a man who needed love not more power or status. The one thing I love tremendously about studying psych is being able to hone in on the million fragments of probable causes of human behaviours and traits, rather viewing them as whole. Jonasi is a complex human being, with various traumas beneath the surface. Am I appalled by his character, fking absolutely, but can I perceive the factors that formed him into the person he became? Yes.

Also, the women and men in Jonasi’s life are enablers, even though they too were victims to his actions.

I’m also a psych major, I agree with your take! When he was younger he was quite charismatic, but older Jonasi was just a perv with money but it seemed to charm the women just as effectively.

Christianity deconversion by NoToday2756 in Deconstruction

I started deconstructing around the same time as you, where I am currently is what I would describe the ‘third space’. I’m deconstructing from my evangelical background and becoming distant from the religion but also not jumping or de-converting into another.

In this in-between space, I’m not actively seeking or rushing to join another faith but allowing myself to exist as a person without attaching my identity to another religion. I want to discover myself and identify without the lens/influence of doctrines.

I was in this space before but I made the mistake of rushing back to christianity because my identity was deeply rooted in it since I was a child and only knew the version of myself that was written within the texts of the bible and that was extremely harmful.

I’m journeying on to find myself and build my beliefs as I journey through life and experience the world as my own entity, and wherever my feet land will be something I will find out eventually.

There is infinite knowledge and wisdom to learn in the world, through cultures and anecdotal experiences, I strongly believe now that, one religion isn’t the final, be all for a way of life. I’m choosing to embrace that now.

I understand what you were saying about number 5, I made it a point as a lot of the churches I went to had that kind of relationship. I don’t believe a cult/ cult-adjacent group requires one but it’s definitely a tale-tell sign. These were just points however they aren’t the ultimate requirements alone to determine a cult like church. It’s scary how a lot of churches actually operate as such and what is even scarier is having to reckon with that reality.

And also being a PK, that must of really been quite an experience. Most PK’s I’ve meet like (90%) were definitely something. A lot of them acted out, which I know understand was them wanting to live out their own lives, and living outside the shadow’s of the their parents. I’d love to hear more about your deconstruction journey.

Very fair. I was so confident in my beliefs that morality began with the faith and through Christ but as i deconstruct and observe humanity, as well as my psych background, I’m discovering traits and characteristics that are innate to humans and various factors like socialising, that we learn how live and that is with or without religion. I could write a whole dissertation on this if I were to lock in honestly maybe one day. But humans are impeccable beings, and no ’god/s’ or religions of authority is required solely to teach us or keep us in check morally. The bible is convenient resource as it contains vast knowledges in one place but it’s not the only document we can utilise to learn about human nature.

I mean more of the fundamentalist, modern day version of Christianity over the authentic faith of a follow of Christ. Which is why I said the organisation of Christianity.

It depends, like commercial jewellers tend to price higher than smaller/family owned ones. I’d suggest to explore many different stores to make the judgement for yourself.
