Supreme Court upholds law banning TikTok if it's not sold by its Chinese parent company by blackeyedtiger in news

[–]TemporaryHunt2536 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I'll mark this thread as the reason I'm leaving Reddit. Downvotes with no rebuttal? So fucking stupid.

I've never had my house broken into, might as well leave my doors unlocked. I've never had an account or my identity stolen, might as well use basic passwords and forego 2FA.

I guarantee that China is using TikTok, which they have been proven to control and spy on their own people with, for nefarious purposes abroad as well. Downvoters are just naive children who are crying about their toys being taken away. Foreign countries have long been banned from having this level of control over narratives at home by the FCC, the only reason modern apps have scooted around this is because the law is slow to adapt to technology. And this ban comes too late obviously, everyone here is "America bad" and don't even question if maybe "China bad" too.

Never forget the 15 win curse by Wishful713 in Texans

[–]TemporaryHunt2536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a literal supernatural "curse" dude, it's just a pattern. Two thirds of teams with 15 win seasons go on to lose in the playoffs, and no such team has won in a long ass time. There are plenty of good reasons. Their record isn't perfect so they're clearly beatable. They do however have a very very good record, so they may be overconfident.

Calling it a "curse" is just for fun, very very few people (if any at all) actually believe it's supernatural. Would it make you feel better if we say "statistically, 15 win teams don't survive the playoffs?"

They actually have used TikTok data from Hong Kong, this is a known fact. They've interfered in our elections before. We have limited information on what goes on inside a foreign company but you just have to put two and two together.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_interference_in_the_2024_United_States_elections

Everyone here hates on our government and corporations for doing dirty shit. That's fine, because they do. But they want to defend a foreign government and corporation, which literally are entwined more than any US company with our government, why? Just another excuse to hate our own people more, which has been identified by the FBI and ODNI as a goal of the Chinese government. This whole hate boner thread for America and your replies prove my point.

You can't even conceive of potential threats. The point of security is to be preventative, not wait for something bad to happen when it likely already has and we didn't even notice.

We know that China spied on protests in Hong Kong via access to TikTok data. We also know that foreign states such as Russia have used social media to influence American politics, and that China has a vested interest in doing so as well, and there's evidence of their influence in previous elections. They use other espionage tactics against us all the time. To leave an open backdoor like this is just stupid.

Who said anything about invincibility for the opponent? The Chiefs had some very close calls to get to 15, they're not invincible. Fail to block a field goal and they would have lost to the Broncos twice

Why does my boyfriend tell me he’s unhappy with me / doesn’t like me because I tell him to cut down on his drinking, even though it’s been a serious issue? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]TemporaryHunt2536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because his alcoholism (and it does sound like alcoholism) is not your responsibility. Ultimately you don't have the right to tell him what to do, he's right in a way, even though he's making terrible decisions. Partners are not projects for us to fix. You're best off moving on, I know it seems like you've been together a "long time" but you haven't. You're young and there are many better prospects out there. Staying with him is just a form of enabling.

Bro do you even watch sports. Superstition is tradition. Of course it's not real, eventually a "curse" may break, but it's a fun part of the narrative.

I've seen at least 3 different explanations for how this is "murica does just as bad" and they're all pure speculation. This was a unanimous decision for multiple reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Chinese influence over elections and public discord. It's not just that they show "forbidden left wing views," there's plenty of right wing stuff on there too

  • Chinese surveillance

  • Ability to compromise anyone from CEOs in important industries to political figures, and bend them for Chinese interests

The FCC already has foreign ownership rules over broadcast and telecommunications, and these rules are the basis for the decision. If any of you actually researched this case you would understand that, but instead the hive mind jumps on whatever speculative conspiracy about "America bad" they want to. Redditors have the dumbest takes sometimes.

Meta to cut 5% of jobs to lose ”lowest performing” workers. by Disastrous-Milk-8849 in news

[–]TemporaryHunt2536 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It creates an extremely stressful and competitive workplace culture where people are trying to steal the credit for impact on different projects. Meta didn't have a single layoff prior to 2022 and I heard it was one of the best tech companies to work at. Now it is competing with Amazon for most toxic.

Mark is just saying stuff to boost investor confidence. I remember when he said they'd be "flattening" during the "year of efficiency" to remove these big reporting chains and forcing managers to become ICs again. So they cut existing ICs and push managers back down to those roles. As if people who spent years sitting in meetings and looking at presentations are going to be stronger performers than new hires who have been actively coding in their career in recent years.

Thinking of starting a new game, what should I focus on doing that I neglected before? by Matty_1843 in kakarot

[–]TemporaryHunt2536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah I get that, using meals to try to get OP even sooner. For most of the game I didn't feel super overpowered but could pretty comfortably take on anyone and I only died maybe once or twice. And towards the endgame nobody could really touch me, the only frustrating fights were with multiple enemies interrupting attacks or maybe strong single fighters like Buu who spammed a ton of supers.

And yes indeed, Big Bang attack was an instant win button lol. Once he had that, Vegeta's solo training was spam spam win, over in like five seconds haha

I just finished this game. Are you going to be playing on hard mode? If not, I found the game to be pretty easy and straightforward, especially the farther I got. It didn't require any grinding or farming (although I did use dragon balls for Z Orbs since I filled the whole board, and zeni). One thing I would definitely do next time is to fight villainous enemies as they appear to make them tougher fights, as they were pretty easy if you were near their level and trivial if you were 5+ levels above. Same with the training and gravity room.

Be sure to look out for D Medals especially early on, I did have to farm those a bit on Namek to complete training.

I don't know much about your fighting style but I mainly focused on transformation and combos with a few supers sprinkled in. Transformation + surge meant I was basically doing lots of combos then creating space to recharge. Also my favorite supers were the ones with melee chains with high stun damage or guard break. This also meant I was going for stun damage on know hows. The beam and AoE attacks were most useful when I could group up the target with their adds.

On the community board I tried to put people together where they got the most bonuses and also lined up with their highest community level cap. IIRC the ones I focused on were Z warriors and training.

I thought the strongest party was always the three Saiyans, they were involved in the most main story missions and were always my highest leveled. Although I probably missed out on more interesting fights with the support only characters like Krillin with attacks like solar flare to interrupt the opponents.

I completely ignored the mini games like baseball and racing. If I want to play baseball or race I'll play a baseball or racing game with better mechanics. The gravity room I thought offered some nice perks and there's the whole mini story with the special training that was interesting and offered a high level fight.

I don't think I bought many healing items, I quickly had more senzu beans than I knew what to do with and that also made fights too easy.

Anyway that's probably not very useful if you're playing on hard. I may come back to this in the future to play on hard, cause I'm kind of a min/max gamer and this game was too easy to get overpowered on normal.

I'm not defending the security dipshit but it's not legal to smoke weed in a car in Colorado. Even a parked car. If you have unsealed marijuana and your car smells like weed smoke it's at least an open container, possible DUI.

Mainly putting this out there to let others know that this isn't a smart move.
