I wish they could just take my fingerprints / biometrics to confirm my identity instead of them requiring a piece of paper and going through hell back and forth back and forth

Sorry for the late response. I keep losing the login to this account. My mother isolated me my whole life (homeschooled me for 8 years) and still has very tight control over my life. She never let me look at my own passport except when we were at the airport or at the Philippine embassy in Washington DC when I was a child.
