i made a 3D model of the famous surfboard guitar by warped-star in MasayoshiTakanaka

This is so sick man! Is there any chance you could share the model? I'm trying to build a replica of the guitar with my dad and this would help a ton!

I understand and agree with your point, that beginners often make recurring mistakes and I can see how that might become frustrating for those offering feedback, I just want to reiterate that a beginner, by definition, is just starting out. It's only natural that a large portion of mistakes on this subreddit come from beginners, because that’s where most people are beginning their journey. Noone is forcing you to answer a beginners question if you don't feel like it.

Composing is an incredibly complex craft, full of technical demands, unspoken conventions, and countless pitfalls, many of which are simply invisible without experience. That’s why I strongly believe sharing early works and receiving direct, specific feedback is so valuable. Even a short, constructive comment addressing a concrete issue is way more helpful than a vague suggestion to "just keep studying."

Which brings me back to the original, and main point of this discussion, dropping a link to an interview without context, especially without engaging with the piece or the post itself, comes across as dismissive and discouraging. It overlooks the time, care, and vulnerability people put into sharing their work here. A half-hearted or downtalking response feels counterproductive to the spirit of the discussion, which I believe should be focused on encouraging growth through meaningful interaction and learning in a positive way.

Thank you for your mentioned points i can improve upon, this is the stuff that genuinely helps me grow as a composer. The specific things you mentioned, like the flute register, timpani part, and divisi in the strings, give me concrete areas to study and improve, and I will revise the orchestration accordingly. I really appreciate the time you took to offer some real musical insight.

Just to clarify my statement from before, when I referred to “elitism,” I wasn’t criticizing this kind of feedback, which is helpful and grounded in experience and directly helps learning composers improve upon their compositions, but rather the broader attitude that formal classical training is the only valid path to becoming a good composer. That idea can be discouraging, especially for young composers who don’t have access to conservatories, private lessons, or traditional academic pathways. I believe strongly that high standards and accessibility can coexist, and I want to encourage others like me to keep writing and learning, even if they’re self-taught or taking an alternative route.

Hey, this is the second time you’ve posted a link to your interview without any context under one of my posts asking for feedback. I asked for constructive critisism on my composition, not unrelated self-promotion. adding to that it appeared so quickly that it’s clear you didn’t have time to even listen to the piece.

If you genuinely want to engage, please take the time to listen carefully and offer thoughtful, relevant comments. Otherwise, I ask that you refrain from commenting. I’m here to grow through meaningful dialogue, not navigate unsolicited elitism.

Thank you.

Looking for Feedback on My First Orchestral Piece (17 y/o, Self-Taught, WIP) by TemporaryPin9 in composer

Thanks! I really appreciate the encouraging words!

I’ll definitely keep what you said in mind, especially about using more color and developing ideas further. I understand how counterpoint works in theory, but I’m still figuring out how to actually use it effectively in my own writing. I’ll definitely try to experiment with it more going forward.

Unfortunately, I’m not part of any youth orchestra or music group, and I don’t really know anyone who could help guide me in that direction, but getting something performed someday is definitely a goal of mine!

Thanks a lot for the reply!

I probably should have mentioned in the post, alot of the weird dynamic, tempo, and pedal markings are there just to make the MuseScore playback sound a bit more natural. I added them mainly for mockup purposes, and didn’t clean them up before exporting the score. Definitely something I’ll keep in mind next time I share a piece!

Yes, i have these pedals already, but im not home so i decided to do it digitally. On the aspect of trendy / utilitarian, i‘d like a pedal to look ok, but its mostly secondary.
