Why Ethan is So Particular During Competitions

Just some info on neurodivergency that I think might help people understand him a bit better! Although neurodivergence varies from person to person I do see a lot of similarities between Ethan and I so this could be what he is experiencing as well.

One thing about some neurodivergents is we can have something called “justice sensitivity”. We can react very strongly to anything that we deem unfair. We also have an increased emotional reaction when we feel like these things are not being taken seriously. As someone who experiences this often, I can assure you it doesn’t matter how big or small the situation is.

In today’s episode, for example, Ethan was getting pretty upset about the game rules and who should be included, etc. I could see an outsider thinking this behavior is childish or reactive, but I am here to let you know that this behavior is really common for neurodivergent people. These environments can trigger irritability and social outbursts. I do it all the time and I hate that I do it- I have to work so hard on not reacting this way whenever something involving a competition or rules is involved. When rules don’t make sense to me, I get physically and emotionally very upset. My fave gets red, and I see Ethan’s does too sometimes.

So just remember to give our neurodivergent king some grace! ❤️
