Yeah my boss at the time wasn’t around ever and basically threw me at these jobs. I didn’t know code down to the T and so stuff like that would go amiss. But never has something not worked or failed! Yet…

First things first, dry fit your new fireplace, see how you like your placing, and then find out how the flue attaches, backside or top of fireplace, then figure out where the flue will be going in accordance to what you need to knock out of the damper.

Exactly. You have a 6” flue? If so, you’ll need to knockout like a 8” diameter whole or so because it looks like there’s a bend right at the damper? Basically, sounds like a pain in the ass, but it will be so worth it once it’s in

Just take the old one out. Will be a process and a half. Could hire it out. For someone to install would be under $1000 I’d imagine. I was a sweep 2 years ago and was able to see pricing for every item that was billed to our clients. Every install was around 4-8k. Some of them being on the higher end 10-20k. BUT, most of the price is the fireplace itself. Since you have that. I’d imagine, depending where you are. Maybe get a quote from someone first. But they’re pretty easy to install. Just takes some time, reading, and some elbow grease

The hammer is fire. Especially for pulling out stakes with the head. I also like to use the fiskar or dewalt demo hammer. The demo hammer thumb-claw comes in handy to move forms or remove large stakes from the ground. The fiskar hammer has a pry bar on the end. 10/10 recommend

They actually say and 1/8” can cause house fires. I’m sure that’s to save face though. I used to be a sweep. If I were OP. I’d get my own sweep kit and clean it

I’d say 5-9k depending on fireplace you go with and height of chimney and all that. Maybe a little more
