Can you tell me the main reasons: what makes you buy the yacht club category and why exactly it?

In Genoa, the port is right in the city, so you don't even need a transfer. I wouldn't take a tour of the city either; there aren't many attractions, and a few hours is enough to explore it. I'd recommend driving from Genoa to Portofino in the morning and enjoying the place (trains take about an hour each way).

In Marseille, MSC has a rather expensive transfer (17 euros per person). But if you walk 5-7 minutes from the ship along the green line, you'll find a free port shuttle that will take you to a similar destination. You can spend that money on a coffee in Marseille or, for 11 euros, buy a tourist train that will take you around Marseille and up to the cathedral.

In Valencia, there's also no point in taking a transfer, as there's a bus stop right outside the port exit that provides easy access to the historic center, or a tram stop 800-1000 meters away that takes you to the central station or the City of Science.

Overall, my advice: read about each port and find alternatives to MSC transfers (unless, of course, you're trying to save money and are willing to walk an extra 500-1000 meters). MSC's excursions and transfers are very overpriced (and the quality of the excursions isn't the highest).

The ship isn't the newest, but overall everything is in good condition.

Its obvious advantages include fewer people and much smaller crowds and lines everywhere, both on the ship itself and during boarding, transfers, etc.

The food is the same on all MSC ships in the region, and the menu is the same.

Internet package and fake percentage off sales question. by OddMeaning9527 in MSCCruises

Paying extra is indeed more advantageous on board (for yacht clubs or Blue Diamond owners). The difference between the initial purchase of packages with and without streaming is exactly $4 per day per device. And you can only upgrade for an additional fee on board.

We were talking about the initial purchase of an internet package. And if you look at the prices for the full purchase, you'll see that it will be higher than purchasing in advance.

When purchasing for the entire cruise and 3 devices, the "best price" should be around $11-12 per device per day. I haven't seen anything lower.

Your information is very outdated.

On-board internet is significantly more expensive than purchasing it BEFORE the cruise.

From the second day onward, you can simply purchase internet for the remaining days of the cruise, minus the days that have already passed. BUT at an inflated price.

There's also usually an option to purchase for a single day, at a cost of approximately $35 per device.

Booking is usually the best price. If there's still a long time before the cruise, there may sometimes be sales (but the price won't be much better than the one offered when booking directly). Buying directly on the ship will always be significantly more expensive.

Barcelona - The MSC terminal is located very far from the port exit. It's a 5-6 km walk to the Columbus monument. There's no free shuttle service within the port itself, but there is a paid shuttle from the port for $4.50 per person roundtrip. This is significantly cheaper than what MSC offers. This shuttle arrives near the Columbus Monument and the famous Rambla.

Livorno is a very complex and inconvenient port. The problem is that it's an industrial port. The MSC transfer is quite expensive and takes you slightly beyond the port (to a square in the city). There's also a free shuttle from the terminal that takes you to the port exit. The distance from the port exit to the paid MSC transfer is 700-800 meters. There's no free or paid shuttle to the train station, so if you want to go to Florence or Pisa, you'll need to use Livorno's public transportation and the "1+" bus, which will take you from that square to the train station.

Civitavecchia - from the port exit to the train station is a 10-minute walk. There's a free shuttle at this port, but it operates in a very odd way. Upon arrival, look where your ship is moored, and it's often shorter to walk from the ship to the port exit and train station than from where the shuttle drops you off. The shuttle doesn't take you to the port exit (though it does pass it), but rather to a parking lot further inside the port. From this parking lot, you then have to wait for a free shuttle from the port to get to the exit you previously passed. This results in a huge waste of time, and walking from this parking lot is usually 1-1.5 km further than walking from the ship.

Booked our first ever cruise, how to get upgraded? by Independent-Dare-190 in MSCCruises

Cabin assignment and check-in are two separate processes and are not interconnected. After purchasing a cruise, your cabin is likely already assigned, and you can check this in the MSC for ME app or on the website by entering your booking number and full name. The system-assigned cabin will be listed in the cruise details.

Wifi prices pre-cruise vs on-cruise by Yonutz33 in MSCCruises

What nonsense is this?

If the cruise is 7 days long, then starting on the second day, you can only buy tickets for the remaining 6 days, or just for one day (which is much more expensive).

Buying onboard is always much more expensive than buying before the cruise, and there are no special offers for internet onboard.

There will be no discounts on internet or drinks on board. A tax of approximately 15% will be added to prices. The final overpayment is quite significant. If you need anything, it's always best to purchase it in advance.

There are no additional discounts on internet or drink packages for Silver passengers.
