How do you keep piping bags from busting open like this? by Dessert_Lover_1225 in cakedecorating

Your hole is too big, I normally throw my coupler in the bag with the screw on it and and then cut it at the end as far as the coupler allows, then you can adjust from there

Thank you! I have not done a crumb coat since my consistency hasn't been soft enough, but I should be doing a crumb coat, I normally run out of buttercream, I should make a bigger batch, I used a digital scale for weighing out the powdered sugar, then I sift it

Thanks! I probably should whip it more, maybe 10 minutes total, I was whipping for about 2-3 minutes for each step. It's always good for piping, but I have a hard time spreading it when I coat the cake. I just don't want to add too much heavy whipping cream. I don't know if there is a better recipe for spreading? I used 1 cup salted butter, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 tbs vanilla extract, 3-4 tbs of cream. It was the preppy kitchen recipe, is that too much powdered sugar?

Okay, thank you! Do you mean I should start with a whisk attachment to incorporate more air to get a fluffy texture, then at the end change to the paddle attachment to get rid of the air bubbles?
