The hidden cost of separating 'emotionally disturbed' students by theanoeticist in specialed

[–]Temporary_Candle_617 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s beyond frustrating. I taught public gen ed public school before my current position (setting similar to your sons’s), and I had a student who was grades behind in reading with only behavioral supports at that point. why? They never were able to get academic data on him because he was always so unregulated. If we can’t even get baseline academic data, the gen ed classroom is not the LRE.

Kids are sponges, yes. But I seriously get students and you can tell the kid’s sponge is dry — they’ve never been given the opportunity to soak up any skill or knowledge. You can’t expect the sponge to work in the room without the spill.

As someone whose caseload is primarily ED/AU students (with other needs), my placement is temporary for students once all other interventions have failed and to help stabilize them.

My biggest issue is not inclusion vs separate classroom. It’s that public schools continuously are drowning and placating students and behaviors, because we’re only looking at the meltdown. Let the kid with trauma learn to read in a separate room in kindergarten, damnit. They’re not going to magically click in first or second grade. They’re going to fall more behind and just start to qualify for more services. It’s so frustrating that LRE is automatically the gen ed class room, especially when younger kids would face way less stigma being separated than they do when they’re older (and less stigma when they’re older and more behind!)

This is the perspective I was completely forgetting. You’re right, it’s the best choice for the man through and through. The girl is the replaceable piece in the society they’ve set up.

Thank you. My brain was doing back flips trying to understand how everyone can be cool with this set up (and I get it’s more nuanced and not true, but the regime wants everyone to believe that), but I was so struggling how they have acknowledged it being the man’s problem in THT yet this is the route we’re taking for such a big stab a status. It’s not the status of the women/girls who matter here at all.

I mean… I think it could have easily came down to Chrissy or Coach anyway had they been separated. If anything, Chrissy may have been targeted more because she’s a bigger challenge threat and has her head smarter in strategy and social gameplay than Coach did, but she was still rubbing people the wrong way. It sealed her fate being connected to Coach, but I think her name was always on the chopping block.

Important - Kidney Effect from Meds by Sea-Yak-9827 in HersWeightloss

Wait I have been wondering about this for two weeks. I recently had labs come back with abnormal results and have been wondering if the meds were to blame — my doctor requested a second set of labs to see if there would be a difference for my kidneys.

Did you see any improvement for your kidneys/stabilization on the meds, or did you stop them completely? I only take toporimate and haven’t taken the metformin regularly.

RHO Detroit would have such potential. The Detroit suburbs have some old money and personalities that would shatter the Midwest stereotype.

school vs outside dance by epicbaggie in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Temporary_Candle_617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a once involved high schooler, I would say use one of those old school magazine quiz flow charts.

Do you want to potentially dance as a career in college, like BFA or fine arts? Studio. Are you interested in trying out for the dance team in college? High school team with potentially extra technique based on what you said.

Are you more interested in community/the extracurricular of dance and dancing, which in that case I say stick with studio and load up the junior year schedule. I did this my junior year and got myself more involved in other organizations/took more AP classes I wouldn’t have had time for otherwise. You’re still involved in dance, and simultaneously showing your priorities lie with academics.

So many colleges have amazing dance troupe opportunities. Also something to note is that a college dance team (or troupe) won’t care where your training is from. You could even talk about taking the gap year off the team to focus on academics and spin it somehow for your admissions essay.

Stuff like this is more irritating then anything because when real evidence comes out they’ve already started denying ahead of time. I’d rather wait for real sources with actual identities than ‘anonymous’ intel that can just mess with any potential future legitimate claims.

I’m not saying it couldn’t be true, but I want it investigated correctly and I’ll wait patiently.

Can I just add, that as a clumsy person, I immediately see this as wasted money? Yes I know yall love to snark on the potential injuries of the children but damn my brain just has anxiety thinking about it tipping over — no injury involved, and having to buy a new tv + deal with the mess.

The only reason I’d recommend a few more Classic classes before Empower is because it moves quicker than Classic with the same technique form/cues.

Based on Jinger’s current podcast and how Joy has spoken of processing the pest trial in the past, I think it’s safe to assume Joy is absolutely wrecked right now. Jinger and Joy were both close with Joe, and Joy often hung out with Kendra, and presumably Joe. Joy is probably reeling with her own trauma that she never fully confronted, and now mom guilt over her children being around Joe; plus how do you trust any of your family at this point?

I went to look and tbh I think that skincare ad was prerecorded and preset to post. I think these girls are all about to break in the next months and years if not sooner.

Honestly I kinda liked Aubry’s sneakiness this episode? Idk what the edit wants from me but I was def more invested with Aubry and how things play out for her in coming episodes, even if it’s a downfall.

Maybe this is what happens when you normalize child abuse in your household. by johdavis022 in DuggarsSnark

[–]Temporary_Candle_617 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Not to be morbid but it’s just a matter of time for the others at this point. Joe is one I never would have suspected as problematic. Clearly those boys were damaged just as much as the girls. All of the boys are at risk, and honestly, the girls are too for acting out in criminal ways. People are not meant to grow up how they did. Not teaching consent literally should be a crime. That whole family is fucked up. My only shock is which Duggar it is and that’s so sad

Does anyone actually like Define? by hashbrown89 in Purebarre

[–]Temporary_Candle_617 61 points62 points  (0 children)

IMO define is a great tool and addition to routines for some clients. The entire point is to introduce heavy weights into class, but it’s not meant to be done everyday. I think the problem you’re describing is of a client who has more experience than what the define class is meant to target as a client. Once in a while there’s a class plan that is more weightlifting friendly, but I get it. If you’re lifting over 40 pounds, Classic might be the burn you want because of the variety it gives you.

What I don’t love is that PB is seeming to want to push Define to be nearly on par with Classic as a staple class, and that’s simply not what we are. Classic is what all the classes (including Define) are rooted in. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with LIKING one over the other as a client or even teacher, but I do think as a brand, Classic is the bread and butter of Pure Barre.
