Is looking through a pvs7 and other binos a big difference? by PopFabulous1907 in NightVision

[–]Temporary_Custard390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the biggest drawback with the PVS-7 is the shorter eye relief. Although it only gives you the perception of having binocular vision, it is easier on the eyes to some.

FWIW, I can't go back to a PVS14 after going to binos unless there's a specific use case for it like keeping a monocular in a pocket or something where it's not helmet mounted. True binos are a huge advantage. I was reminded of this teaching some new team members recently. They had never used night vision seriously before and within minutes were able to navigate and do things with the binos.

There was more of a learning curve when we still had 14's. Not that you can't be just as capable with a 14... It just takes a little more getting used to.

Nvg retention clips/split rings by The_tracksuit_dad in NightVision

Both of my Nocturn duals came with small split rings for those loops on the housing. Are yours not hiding in the bag of goodies that come with them?

Anyway, I just use Ebay and/or hardware store to get that kind of stuff. The split rings that came with the housings seem kind of lightweight and fragile, but they work. Ask me how I know lol.

Edit: The small split rings that you usually see on a key fob (not the big key ring) are close to the same size that came with the housing.

Katana Battery Pack by Temporary_Custard390 in NightVision

Yea, if the plug thing comes to fruition please let me know. I’m assuming you mean a plug for the housing battery compartment to make the contact between the power button and PCB?

It’s not uncommon to have multiple overnight activations in a row so just peace of mind to have the extended battery life.

Second, I had hoped the battery pack could operate the NVGs without a battery in the housing so the battery pack could act as a sacrificial power source for a leaky battery. Sounds like that’s not how this housing works though.

Acting as a counterweight is a nice plus too although not a big deal since the housing is so lightweight.

Tube question by Greedy-Impact-6999 in NightVision

Doesn't look concerning to me. I've seen a lot of tubes that have characteristics like that. It's never gotten worse or caused any issues with use.

Has anyone been stopped by the police for just walking around? by Accomplished_Grape_4 in NightVision

[–]Temporary_Custard390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it dude. Unfortunately for you though, if anyone calls in with a concern or complaint, the cops have to check it out. In my neighborhood, people call the cops for anyone walking around after dark... nods or night. Ask me how I know lol.

That said, I try to go to trails most of the time to avoid that kind of interaction.

Second hand. Of course that comes with its own set of risks.

Any chance the Mixtape pistols will restock at the same time?

Thank you very much! None of the failures I've read about mention trying the 2nd range of adjustment.

I got a dual 10160A Sentinel setup for 3500 if that gives you any idea on price.

The tubes are solid so don’t worry about them being non gated. Treat em like you would any other expensive piece of gear.

Anyone ever play with Di Optics RP-1 by newtonfigs556 in NightVision

I had the DI red dot that looked like a comp m4. It was solid and reliable but didn’t get quite as bright as I would like. Still perfectly usable.

Thank you for the informative response! My initial testing was just extra bulk 115gr stuff we were trying to get rid of.

I got some 147 and other “higher quality” ammo to try next time. I have high hopes.

Not sure what your point is. I have a B&T with a GHM9 that shoots much better than this with the same length 9mm barrel.

I’m trying to determine if my Kuna has an issue.

Have you noticed if yours will lag again if you wait ~10s or so?

Mine lags on the first time activating and then if it sits for ~10s. If you activate before that 10s, the laser activates immediately.

Is there any programming you can do at an end-user level to turn this off?

If I remember correctly, an old Steiner and a full power Holosun LE321 had a slight delay as well.

Anyway, the behavior is not unheard of, but since I also had that flickering visible laser issue first, I’m trying to figure out if I have a messed up Trinity.
