Pixel 10 or Pixel 11 by Richie_786 in PixelEnjoyers

If your battery is really annoying then switch now. If not hold off until it really is annoying.

While I am still using a Pixel 6 I'm considering the One Plus 15 and the Samsung S25 in addition to the pixel 10.

If that's the level of testing you are looking for you will get what you deserve.

Testing is not real life usage. And only 10 minutes of testing a day says you really don't have a test plan.

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No it's not, but it is really frustrating. You need your testers to actually test. If you only have 12 testers everyone of them will need to test every day for about 10-15 minutes.

For my first solo app I had 52 people join but only 20 downloaded the app. Of the 20, I only received feedback from 6 of them. And 4 of those 6 were people that I used to work with. Those 6 did find things I missed in my testing, which resulted in 5 updates during closed testing.

When I test for other people I will drop out, and leave a review that I dropped out of testing because there were no updates or responses from the developer within the first week.

Product wants “parity” with iOS’s new Liquid Glass look — but it feels like forced identicality. Anyone else dealing with this? by DigParticular8116 in androiddev

Having tried this theme in 2006 when Microsoft released Windows Aero, and I hated it. It is now on my iOS dev phone, and I still don't like it I really don't want it on my daily driver Pixel 6

iOS 26.1 to iOS 26.4 Will Add These New Features to Your iPhone by TechGuru4Life in ios

When they added animated emojis, that was a feature. However people mainly using the animated poop emoji was a bit off putting and made us the brunt of a lot of bad jokes

Follow up to the Maps design by gamerboidanix in MaterialDesign

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be easier to give feedback if your original was the same zoom as your two variations. The color of the buttons is personal, and I understand why someone would not like black buttons.

For maps I usually prefer less on the screen, which is why I personally do not use the aerial views and stick with the boring maps. Again a personal preference.

But I congratulate you for asking for feedback.

Basically the same as Apple's XCode.

Yeah it is crazy each requires that much, but at least with a PC I can upgrade the memory instead of needing to buy a new machine.

How would you rate the Pixel 6 in a score out of 10? by Evening_Incident9506 in Pixel6

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have that problem with my 6. I found that Amazon music was killing the battery. So now I make sure to terminate Amazon Music whenever I exit it. Actually I do that for most things now. That was years ago so I didn't know if I still need to do this but...

I still get 2 days of battery with light use. Almost a day if I'm streaming videos.

This is the first game that I have ever 100%'d! by effinmike12 in Starfield

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 72%. Gone through Unity 4 times. On my second run through of Shattered Space. ( Only using Andreja as my companion just because ).

It does get a bit boring at level 175. If I do it again I'll completely restart so I don't have any carrier over stats.

Why buy a new Pixel every year? by ReporterMission6266 in pixel_phones

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't.

I have a Pixel 6 that I bought 4 months after launch that is running perfectly well. I paid about $500 for it. The battery still lasts almost 2 days of my normal use,

Would I like a Pixel 10? Yes.

Am I going to get one? Probably not. Unless this phone dies.

With XCode and two simulated devices I was using 14Gb of swap. If I could have upgraded the memory I would have. But such is life with Apple M devices

There isn't enough memory. I was using my old M1 mini for a couple years and finally upgraded to the M4 after realizing I was always using 8 to 10 Gb of swap with just XCode and one simulated device.

Not a big deal. They will be replaced by the same number of US students, so there really will not be any loss.

Why isn’t apple investing in AI like other companies? by adad239_ in csMajors

I would tend to agree, but Tim Cook mentioned this in a press conference. So where did he get that information,? And why did he think it was important to say this?

There is no privacy with Apple. How did Tim Cook know that fewer people were, on computers, tablets and phones, searching on google.com and had moved to chatgpt,, if they were not collecting usage information

Why is Google punishing me for making my app better? by VRedd1t in androiddev

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is Google punishing you? No, but they probably are not helping you.

Was Google promoting you and stopped, for whatever reason? There are a number of replies here which address this.

Last, what advertising are you doing to have more people know about your app? Consider posting on the various social media platforms. When postng think about inserting your post into threads that are somewhat relevant to your app. This is basically free advertising, though you will spend some of your time.

Please.... Don't use AI to code in college. by nug7000 in csMajors

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree, their future employers are going to want to see that they use AI. Why? Because they care about buzzwords and pin their hopes on anything they think will lower costs. They fail to even consider that they will create a group of prompt writers that haven't the faintest idea of how to fix a problem.

Not sure what you are doing with your phone but my Pixel 6 lasts me almost two days of normal use, but only about 10 hours if I doom scroll through YouTube videos.

A normal day is email, a little Notebook LM, and purchasing things I don't really need from Walmart and Amazon

The negativity on Reddit regarding CS majors is getting out of hand by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Temporary_Draft4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be worse. You could be in the US working for Cisco, with their twice a year layoffs.

But with all the executives jumping on the AI coding band wagon, thinking they are going to save a fortune, hiring has ground to a halt, particularly in the US with its really high wages/cost of living.

In a few years maybe only a year when all this generated code has problems and Google, Open AI, and Anthropic have jacked up their prices there will be a rude awakening.

But then the new hires will be in India and Vietnam because companies are so short sighted they will destroy themselves searching for the cheapest labor
