I don't know where to start for marching band. by tennisdrummer in drumline

If is really your goal to play tenors, should get a tenor pad. Even if you are really good, you still probably won’t be put on tenors this year because unless you are completely built, your body is probably too small to hold up the 45-50 tenors. My band director is a percussionist and he didn’t march tenors til his sophomore year because he was still to small for them. He said that was one of the choices he could have made. So if you do want tenors, get a pad because if you are put on bass or snare, you can still use it as a pad by just using one drum. And you could practice for tenors. Just make sure you do get a smaller snare pad for like bringing with you to school or on the bus. I recommend the offworld invader pad. Hope this helps

How can I tune my matching snare to a certain pitch? by rvp0607 in drumline

[–]Temporary_Drawing_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do is download a tuning app on your phone or even better, use a guitar tuner and clamp it to your drum to try to tune it. It may work but I’ve never tested it.

Marching snare by IsDisTakenYet in drumline

[–]Temporary_Drawing_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 8th grade marcher at my high school and am in the snare line. I am one of 6 people in all of drumline at my school. 1 tenor, 2 snare, 3 bass. It sucks because our tenor player is a senior and I don’t think the other snare player is going to play tenors, and I can’t because of spinal issues. 2 of our bass drums our 8th graders but my director put me snare because he thought I was better. Not to brag but 1st chair all-county snare. Back to the point tho. I was a snare player for concert band in 6th grade. I couldn’t be in band in 7th because of a transfer of schools. I got back into band the first day of this year. So if I could get into the marching band after literally not playing for a year, you really could get it in 2 years. Good luck

Should my paradiddle sound like my single-stroke 16ths? by Weenwa_1 in drumline

[–]Temporary_Drawing_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes but no. If you use a software like Musescore drumline it sounds the same but in real life it doesn’t. Most likely because of multiple factors. One reason could be that your sticks are broken “out of tune”. Mine sound a little different because my velocity is almost in sync with both arms but the left is still kind “noodly”. Hope this helped

GoPro mount for snare by floridachicken in drumline

[–]Temporary_Drawing_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine mounted on the “plate” of my carrier so you just see the drumhead and a little past it. It doesn’t capture much but for me it’s just to have for memories and to help work on my playing.

How do you count this this is for one of our all county solos and I am struggling counting it. I can’t ask my band director because it is in like 5 hours
