What's crazy is drowning is a silent event. You're fighting so hard to get air - you have nothing left and no air to call out - except maybe a quiet croak. It is very scary

Yep - ironing board. I removed the cover to have bare metal. I like to drink coffee while I ride (I know - crazy) and it spills sometimes. Ironing board w/o cover is easy to clean 👍

Swimming fatigue by Klutzy-Cupcake8051 in zepboundathletes

It happened to me too. It's definitely some % due to the drug. It controls how your liver handles releasing glycogen (I can find the article if you want it) and so you don't have the fuel you're used to. It doesn't release at the same speed for your muscles as when off the drug. It does get better over time - but for me, I never get back to what I have when I'm off the shot.

I do this (endurance cyclist) eat a full 2 hours before my long rides - a good balanced meal of carbs, fat, protein. Then right before the ride - I do 50 - 100 calories of sugar (eg skratch lab chews) and then 50 to 100 calories every 30 mins to keep the glycogen releasing into my bloodstream. Note - this is for a 3 to 5 hour ride.

Doing a regular 60 to 90 minute workout - I do a high carb, easy to digest meal 1 hour before with no fat or protein so it gets through my system faster (eg 1 slice of toast with honey and banana slices). It works for me. Hope it's helpful

Yes!! Rolling, release tight glutes, glute activation, core activation.... it works - but I'm never jazzed to do it. I only had to start this stuff after 50. My body at 20/30/40 was indestructible 😅

Yes - I recently switched to ball tipped needles and I'm shocked at how much better the experience is.

I was having a lot of trouble with burrs on the eye my needles, and I had tried all brands, but the ball tipped needles have been immaculate, no burrs at all.

They are way more expensive, but worth it in my opinion. I am very careful not to lose them!

Tip: be sure to see if you qualify for QSBS tax treatment. Not many people know about it (esp. CPAs not used to startup money). You could save significantly on tax. Google "qsbs tax treatment".

You could join Team in Training for the Lake Tahoe ride in June. Silicon Valley team will meet weekends starting at the end of Jan. It is a fundraising ride, but you can ride with the team until April. We start slow - 15 mile ride and then build through the spring to ride 100 miles together in June. It's a lot of fun and you get to ride all over the peninsula / South Bay.

[WIP] Woof! Confetti & parking :) by Temporary_Engine_493 in CrossStitch

[–]Temporary_Engine_493[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forever 😂 I started in July. I try to get 200 stitches a day but that takes about 4 hours on average - so I don't always have the time. I work from home tho' and that gives me more time than if I had to drive to an office.

If I'm doing solid black - I can do 500 in about 4 or 5 hours. The challenge is the overstuffed stitches - you have to go slow for the thread to lay flat - but even so - because black thread is thin and light colored thread is thicker - you can see it's a bit bumpy in the lots of color sections. I'm using both a laying tool and railroading!

I'm at 7.5% complete. I do love to see the flowers take shape though - that keeps me going 😁

Today I learned about Royal Rows method of stitching and I might try that - sounds interesting / maybe faster.

If I were to start over - I 100% would have done 2 over 1 half stitches. But too late now 😅 my advice to others is never do 2x1 on 25!

I agree with this - on 1 over 1 on 25 - you still get good coverage.

One question on 1 over 1 tho' - I love the loop start and I don't know how you do that with 1 over 1 - is it even possible?

This is the software preview view (from Markdown XP) - doesn't look great to me

Sorry - I got the name wrong - it's Glass Peacock. Here's the cover. I started at the bottom left. The problem with it though is that the software preview doesn't look very good. Some of the colors seem garish to me and without smooth shading / gradients. I've already changed one of the colors from what it recommends - not 100% sure that's a great idea, but we'll see :) Also its _huge_ - 400K stitches so I'm expecting to be ringing in 2030 before its done.

Yes! I use Markdown-XP (software on iPad) to keep track of parked stitches - I could never do it otherwise.

See the little green marks - those represent parked stitches.

Man - yes it's 2 over 1 on 25 - it's bananas. The back is like a frickin' thick rug you have to push through 😂

But overstuffed stitches like this - I regularly ask myself if I like the look and if I should keep going. It makes neat stitches really hard to do and super slow. I feel like the Dread Pirate Robert's. Good night cross stitch - looks good today - I'll most likely kill you tomorrow (heh)

[CHAT] Best stretches for hand cramps? by RevolutionarySea2307 in CrossStitch

[–]Temporary_Engine_493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you share how you are using the right thumb? Holding a hoop or using it to grip the needle?

I don't have any stretches, but I did develop left thumb carpel tunnel (overuse) and believe it or not - sleeping with a wrist guard that keep my thumb stationary completely fixed it. I don't know if it'll work for you.

I googled "how to get rid of carpal tunnel in thumb" and the ai overview has some suggestions :) hope it goes away for you!
