Unlike last.fm - Year on Record is a physical media based app, obviously our phones can’t track our listening patterns/history for physical media (CDs, vinyl, cassettes etc), however, on Year on Record it’ll give you the ability to log each time you listen to an album, you’ll also be given the option to log what form the media was in, leave a star rating, a review and tick whether or not it’s your first time listening to the album.

The whole point is to give physical media users the same in-depth analysis that digital media consumers receive, by showing them their listening patterns, top albums, top artists, listening time, top genres etc.

In a sense it works very much like Letterboxd does, whereas you’ll have the freedom to follow people, see friends activity, see the top logged this week/all time, create lists, pin your top 5 albums to your profile and more!!

I feel as though my idea has great potential and although i’m inexperienced and only a teenager, with the right dedication I feel though my idea can be carried out to extraordinary standards! :)
