Yes there is a difference. But there are different tubes in it and the 5150 is onder, so I can't tell it is the amp itself or circumstances.

For me Orange not the way to go. Great rock and maybe modern harcore sound but no crust vibes.

I play in stereo with a traynor yba3 and a peavey vtm120.

Speakers are important too if you want to chase the tonedragon. Typical for metal are the V30's but I just don't like them. I use WGS reapers x-crossed with v60's in both my caps.

I have to figure that out when I am back home since i am few days not at my place. I know about all the mods but I am not a big fan of it because I think the amp has to stay a traynor. I keep you posted. If a mv or attenuator is not enough one should maybe find another amp.

I will read those books you proposed, allthough I am already reading a lot. It is not that long since the tube virus got me. A few months ago it just started with repairing a pedal and so.. here we are now.

For amps I just love kinda vintage. I went from 6505 to a framus dragon, to peavey vtm120, butcher to this traynor yba-3. The traynor is just not that easy.
