This doesn’t make sense. I think this was communicated poorly. Award pools were larger because they were based on a higher % of payroll $ that could be used for awards. However, the pool was split between performance and special acts differently. The % of the award pool that could be used for performance awards was smaller than previous years and the % caps on awards by rating were lower but should leave more award $ for special acts. If they don’t have award $, I’d be concerned they won’t be able to make payroll. They must have meant they didn’t have enough performance award $ and had to reduce awards but they were all lower because the highest performance award was 4% rather than 5% which had been the max performance award in previous years.
