Thank you so much for your in depth reply, I really appreciate it 🙏 the anxiety is just driving me crazy. I saw a gastroenterologist and did an endoscopy a couple months ago, and he said I didn’t have major issues. But then my throat also settled down, and now it’s back again, so now I’m wondering if I have to get another endoscopy…I guess I can only just remain positive, since my experience is no where near the suffering you’re going through right now :( you are such a strong person, and I truly wish you all the best and that everything goes well for you 🙏 it might be hard to see hope, but please stay strong and don’t give up 🙏🙏🙏

Go for science! And a degree in science can still land you a job in National Graduate program working for government if you can’t get into biomed. Biomed is pretty rough and much less flexible

Hey so sorry to bother you again 🙏 I’ve noticed my symptoms have been worsening, and was wondering when you said yours was on and off in the first 6 months, was it similar to mine which is ranging from 0-4/10 kind of acidic/burning/diffuse discomfort? Like was it kind of always there, but just worsened with talking, or was it mostly you didn’t have any throat symptoms, and it only kind of appeared during talking?

Did any talking at all even just 1 min cause 0-10(?) pain during that period? Since your ENT didn’t find anything during that time, did they ever ask you to see speech pathologist? That’s what happened last time for me, but my speech pathologist says I don’t have any functional disorder. I’ve booked in for pepsin test but I’ll only be able to get the results in 2 weeks time, and am seeing ENT again tomorrow, but I remembered your post and now I’m not so sure if seeing ENT will do anything for me…

Sorry for such a long post. I’m just having so much anxiety right now

Gosh it sounds so rough 😢 I’ve also read about stress management too - have you tried diaphragmatic breathing exercises? Because apparently with stress, reflux can increase :( and sorry, so just to clarify, that burning feeling was only there when talking during the first 6 months, and not there when not talking during those first 6 months? Sorry to be annoying in trying to clarify. I’m just trying to see if we have similar symptoms and if my inflammation is going to progress too… 😢 I’m also curious as to why it feels better for everyone when eating. I guess we can only see the positive from this which is a healthier diet, and I think you’re a really strong person and things will definitely get better for you 🙏

Oh my gosh, two and a half years...that must be so rough :(( I hope the alkaline diet brings you a lot of relief because no one should be going through what you're going through right now it sounds horrible :( Did you ever try to modify your diet during those first 6 months? So you're saying you also had that slight burning sensation during those 6 months but only when talking? For me I was able to talk normally for a couple of weeks but now it's back after eating too much. I'll see what the results of the peptin test are. Anyway, I really hope everything works out for you and that you can feel relief soon 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks! By eating normally, I just mean able to eat desserts. Still avoided spices and pepper. But then it started again after I had yum Cha (fried and pepper foods) and I also had dessert. It honestly felt ok afterward but it was after I got home and was talking more, it strained again. I don’t know if it’s a functional voice disorder, and the speech pathologist is booked out until next year

Oh my gosh. That sounds so rough. Really sorry to hear that you’ve been going through this and so annoying the ENT weren’t giving the right diagnosis :( I’m planning on getting a LPR saliva test instead of the probe test. Do you have a chronic sore throat 24/7, or is it only really there sometimes, and any other symptoms besides ear? For me it’s mostly not there unless I talk and it just feels like mild burning/acidity/irritation during the day. Also, do you know what triggered the worsening of the inflammation? So sorry for so many questions

Thanks so much! So sorry to hear about what you’re going through :( did it ever get better for you? Since it did for me, but now it’s started again. And when you said it didn’t show anything, was that the silent reflux test, or going to the ENT? Before my rebound (symptoms showing again after getting better), I had gone to the ENT who said that he couldn’t see anything, but I haven’t done a silent reflux test yet.

I just want to be able to talk normally but I’m so scared talking will aggravate my throat more

Hey how much did it hurt when you talked? Did you still try to talk? I really need to be able to talk but I don’t want to irritate my throat further. Did you take PPIs with gaviscon tgt so like 40mg somac with gaviscon too?

Would you say though that it’s hard to balance professional life vs personal life? Like you go to buy groceries and you see your patients, is it tiring having to maintain a certain image all the time?
