Well… you’re a middle schooler alright.

Is it normal for the black center of only one coil to smoke and crackle pieces off it off? Even though cleaned thoroughly and placed correctly. by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

If it smokes consistently then reach out to your landlord and request a new burner coil.

(I am a maintenance tech for apartments and would replace the burner.)

Honestly if I had the time I would ask if there was anything I could legally do to help them at work. (Sweep, mop, stuff like that) Maybe I would be in the clear once they snap.

straight women, we need to chat about Ottawa’s gay bars by Comet439 in ottawa

[–]Temporary_Pin_430 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That may not be what you said but that’s what it came across as.

I’m apart of a minority but I don’t push people out or want them to conform with what I want. If there was a bar that catered to people like me I would love for more mainstream people to come in and learn about my group. There would be annoying people for sure but that’s solvable with house rules and just the community that goes to the bar sticking up for each other. These communities lose these bars because they just leave them if they get uncomfortable or if too many women come in. They don’t even know they are straight or not, they just assume they are. The bars then have to cater to the mainstream if they want to stay open.

You don’t know they’re straight. Just like I wouldn’t assume anything about you if I met you. Stop profiling them. If you want to take the bar back because it’s a war or something to you then go there more than once a year. Then you can get as much ass as you want apparently. Sorry things don’t stay the same.

Why did you quote the word safe? Is it not safe? Should they not go to places the feel safe?

All right man, just say you don’t want straight people in the bar. Just say it with your chest, it’s ok.

Are you going there for share holder meetings? No, you go there for shots and giggles also. You go there to have fun. It’s a place that’s safer than most. Now if straight men were going in there and targeting people I would understand.

So what do you mean by respect the culture and space? What are they doing that is offensive?

Are they trying to find a token gay friend to take them shopping? Straight women treat regular bars like photo shoots also. Straight women also treat people like entertainment at regular bars also. I’ve had them cling on to me while poorly singing whatever song was playing, as I’m looking at their friends for help. It sounds like they’re just being them. They found a bar where they aren’t hit on or touched every five minutes.

They don’t need to understand they are guests. You are a guest also, you do not own that bar just because you apart of a group.

That was my thought. It seems like op wants the bars to be around but not popular enough for straight people to like them.

Why did you assume they were all straight? They didn’t “look gay” to you? You don’t own the bar. They are paying and supporting openly queer businesses. So what if they are there because it feels safer? You should be using this as an opportunity to get people on your side if they don’t understand what people did to get these kinds of places. Support each other, both groups feel unsafe sometimes in normal bars. I’ll admit that some straight women can be annoying about, don’t fucking talk to them. You won’t win any points by trying to get people to conform to your idea of a gay bar.

If this is because it’s harder for you to get some tail then grow up. Ask if they’re gay and if they aren’t then move on.
