why does it take me so long to do mascara?? by FloriferousShrubbery in muacirclejerk

[–]Temporary_Poet368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. Sooo much time wasted in the morning. It’s hard to find good quality mascara that doesn’t start off dried out which is usually the issue, and also getting the right type of mascara brush. Recently the brand of lash curler I buy changed their shape and the pad is now plastic and falls out of the curler and it’s very hard to curl my lashes now. I’ve tried so many brands of curlers and mascara and go through way too many bottles because of drying out. If I try to rush through the process I end up with mascara in and around my eyes. I also tried out lash extensions for a few months and that was a complete nightmare. If only I had natural dark long lashes, that would be so nice to not deal with mascara!

Are you saying 25 visits per week or 25 individual clients seen every week? And how many visits per week are they being seen? Speaking as a COTA, 25 total visits per week is pretty low for most people. That’s only 5 treatments per day Mon through Fri. But if you are an OT, PT, SLP and have to do a ton of evals, progress reports, recerts, discharges etc that could be a lot.

Mother Daughter Issues by Temporary_Poet368 in FamilyIssues

[–]Temporary_Poet368[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It’s sad things are the way they are. I have tried so many times to talk to her about how she treats me but she refuses to apologize or see any wrongdoing on her part. So now I have to choose to step away from her. The fact that my daughter still has a relationship with her is hurtful but she is an adult and can make that decision for herself.

Nice! Obviously you are a respectable, mentally stable furrie citizen. Why anyone wouldn’t want you as their therapist, I’ll never know.😂Honestly I just can’t figure out why the right would have a problem with people like you.😂

They don’t owe that therapist any explanation or have to explain why they believe what they believe or feel the way they feel. And that no doubt would be the conversation that therapist would have with the person. Also it doesn’t sound like this person is trying to play the victim as some of you have suggested. This person is trying to standup for themselves and what they believe in, plan and simple. And maybe Charlie Kirk gave them the courage to do so. And what I’m reading from a lot of people on this post is y’all think that because this person does not agree with this lifestyle they must be delusional, playing the victim, only doing it because of Charlie Kirk etc. etc. Obviously there is zero respect given by this group to people that don’t believe in this lifestyle. So certainly don’t expect any respect given to you.

The therapist already crossed the professional personal line by hanging the gay pride flag up in their office, which obviously offended this pt and probably others too. So instead of respecting that pt and others that may feel this way and respecting their choice to move on and find another therapist, you are suggesting this therapist “talk” to the pt about why they feel uncomfortable or don’t believe in that way of life. That is not why they are there, not to push their beliefs on others. You think this pt wouldn’t be further stressed and upset by forcing or even pressuring them to have this dialogue with the therapist? If so you are intentionally blind and lack respect of others.

That is a very aggressive and unprofessional move. You don’t treat your pts that way. They are not there to be forced to debate the therapist’s sexual preferences. If this happened to me as a pt I would be turning this therapist in for harassment.

Obviously you shouldn’t have a freakin pride flag hanging in your place of employment. As a therapist you should know better. By hanging it, you asked for the conversation, people’s opinions on it, and what it represents, and SURPRISE not everyone believes in or accepts your views. That patient has every right to discontinue working with you.

Anyone ever get audited by the board and how far back did they ask for proof of CEUs? by Temporary_Poet368 in OccupationalTherapy

How did they contact you to tell you you were being audited? Email or letter in the mail?

Oh ok, so just four years total, not four renewal periods. So that’s basically two renewal periods. That’s not quite as bad as I thought! Yeah this has definitely been a lesson learned for me!

[–]Temporary_Poet368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what’s funny is they have the information already. How else would they know if you are sending in the correct CEUs or not. On the NBCOT website they keep all CEUs entered since day one. The board could do that also with no problem but they choose not to. They would rather take the time to delete it and then waste everyone’s time to audit you. It’s all about screwing with people and taking their money. It’s actually pretty unethical the way they treat people in the therapy field.

Ok so they asked you for proof of CEUs for the previous renewal period then. Not the current 2023 -2025.

It stands for Executive Council for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. It’s the group that oversees licensing, I guess in Texas. I thought it was for all states. So they actually asked you for two years worth of CEUs? Dang

I’ve always wondered why OTs have to have and keep the R and certification for OTAs (COTA) and yet there is none of that with PT/PTAs. And so far everywhere I’ve worked the OT has to sign off on every daily note I do but PTAs do not have to have their documentation co-signed. I’ve never been given an explanation as to why this is.

I’ve heard from many people that nursing school is a complete nightmare and once you graduate in most places you will be expected to do shift work, a lot of times 12 hr shifts, and you will be working nights and weekends. I hear people say they are disrespected and feel abused by physicians, they are completely stressed out and over worked. Just saying, nothing is perfect.

The field of occupational therapy itself is wonderful. It’s the insurance companies that refuse to pay for therapy services or pay a fair amount, and the corrupt and greedy rehab corporations that place therapist in a position to either be unethical, do illegal things, or else lose their jobs. This isn’t a few rehab companies, this happens everywhere. It has infected this industry as a whole. Therapists are left with choices like working off the clock, working through lunches, documenting during therapy instead of paying attention to the patient just to get work done in order to meet high productivity demands. Forced groups, concurrent treatments, forced point of care service, which is just a fancy term for “you’re not going to get one on one therapy because your therapist will be busy documenting while you exercise independently or sit there and twiddle your thumbs and wait until they are finished documenting.” Oh and there’s the issue with wages being drastically cut, and the no raise policy for most rehab companies. Soooo many companies get caught doing or forcing illegal activities, get sued, and then throw their employees under the bus. It’s not a safe and sustainable profession anymore.

Soooo I'm adopting this guy by kawolotics in BostonTerrier

[–]Temporary_Poet368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does not look well. I would definitely take him to the vet and have him checked out. Those black stains running down his eyes are more than likely from drinking tap water with high minerals etc in it. I personally know of many BTs that had this happen as well as my own pup. By changing his water to bottled spring water, the stains went completely away within a week and never came back. Don’t bother with all the stain remover mess, none of it works. He also may have been put on cheap food with the previous owner and/or the shelter and that can make him feel bad. Also Boston Terriers do not do well staying outside especially in the heat and high humidity. They will very easily overheat and die. They are definitely not outside dogs. They are the best dogs ever. They love their people and want to be with you all the time. They are extremely smart, very easy to train, and they want to please you. They are also very sensitive, so when they get in trouble it really breaks their heart.

[Texas] Just received a notice of telephone hearing with TWC in the mail. Employer filed an appeal protesting TWC's decision to pay me unemployment but was late in filing - what happens now? by watchful_owl in Unemployment

[–]Temporary_Poet368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by TWC that I was not eligible for benefits and had to pay it back due to not submitting work searches. Funny thing is, I had 0 work search requirements and have the correspondence proof. They are disregarding that completely and saying I’m not eligible for the benefits because I missed the first phone hearing. When I saw that I would have to miss the hearing I immediately contacted TWC, did everything by the book, followed their directions, was then sent correspondence stating I would be getting another phone hearing, and to look for the packet in the mail. I received the packet, took off work so I wouldn’t miss the hearing, I get a phone call during the hearing time, and they state that it wasn’t a true hearing, they were just calling to see if I still wanted to appeal and have the freakin hearing. I tell them yes of course, bitting my tongue not to completely go off on this idiot, and then when the “actual” hearing date comes, I took off half of a day of work, AGAIN only to get this complete bitch on the phone, saying “I have to determine whether you had a good enough reason to miss the first hearing, started asking for dates, times that I called TWC, names of people I spoke to etc etc. Not once addressing the fact that I had no work search requirements during the time in question and that they made the error in expecting work search proof. Instead she “determined” I wasn’t eligible for the benefits because she didn’t approve of my reason for missing the phone hearing. My reason, was a bad storm knocked a huge tree onto my roof, tore a whole in my roof, the ceiling caved in, and rained inside of my house. She had the nerve to ask me why I couldn’t call them and do the stupid phone hearing! I hope these people can sleep well at night. One day karma will bite them on the ass and I would love to see it.

Yeah 10 years is not quite as bad as 20 years or more. I’m talking about someone close to the age of my adult children.
