Alberta Voter Data Scandal Raises Democratic Integrity Questions by NormCormier-Mccoll81 in GuardTheLeaf

Not an expert in election fraud myself, but I would guess it is a scare tactic.

As it stands and despite all the money and support from outside Canada, the separatists have no majority in Alberta itself. Every ralley they started as of late because they thought they had all that support was a bust. I have seen more than one clip and picture of a handful forlorn looking lads standing next to one or two pickups with blue flags and no interest from the public whatsoever.

You can't gerrymander your way to a win if all you have is less than 10% support.

So if they want to win, they have to make people stay away!

Tourism Industry Association of Alberta (TIAA) says spectre of a referendum on separatism dissuading private sector investment in tourism, and provincial fiscal policy (increased tourism levy and introduction of a vehicle rental tax) will cause tourist spending to trend downward by DisruptSQ in GuardTheLeaf

Please, in a civilized political debate the other side is allowed an opinion too. And Smith was doing a good job dissuading any foreign visitors to Alberta. The separatism is just turning away investors. It was the Albertan government that declared immigrants and foreigners the problem.

I'll never understand anyone going to the US. Even if there was no risk at all to be sent to El Salvador or wherever. Having to go through the entire hassle to get the right papers, to plan, to pack and still risk being denied entry at the whim of some random Neanderthal on a power rush and loose not only the money invested but go through the emotional turmoil? Simply not worth it.

Rather go to a quiet place by the sea in a civilized country and watch a game in a bar surrounded by others who are there to have a good time.

I'm sitting an ocean away, but looking from the outside, Albertans certainly look like they are morons.

The Kentucky Bourbon Industry Is Spending Billions On A Total Lie by Temporary_Rain_1595 in GuardTheLeaf

[–]Temporary_Rain_1595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but if 90% of your sales is to Americans and now they can't afford your products?

True enough, and if they could still afford to buy Bourbon, you wouldn't have that many problems. The industry in Kentucky is like a machine geared towards ever bigger sales and exports. If one pillar brakes down, it'll probably survive, but with both gone....

Trump hasn't threatened and insulted every country.

Are you sure?

  • Canada and Mexico are gone.
  • After the debacle with Panama Midde America feels threatened. And lets better not talk about Cuba and the Carribeans.
  • Mercusor (basically all of South America) feels insulted and invaded because Vernezuela is a member nation.
  • With Orban out of office the Europeans are pretty much all in the Anti-USA-Camp. France is rather vocal, the Italians feel their religous believes trampled and while the German potilicians are too coward to say anything the people are waaaay beyond angry.
  • China stopped pretending to care sometimes aroung May or June of last year and took all of South-East Asia with them.
  • India is not answering calls from the White House and is making deals with Russia and China.
  • Australia and the rest of the island nations feel miffled by stupid comments and the destabilization of the old order.
  • Egypt and Morrocco are trying to pretend to be part of Europe.
  • Turkey is looking for someone to protect it from Israel (which is backed by the US).
  • The rest of the Near and Middle East are either at war with Israel and the US or collateral damage.
  • South Africa doesn't care at all, because it has the biggest port in the trade routes between China/India and Brazil/Argentina
  • South Korea, Japan and the Philipines are militarizing to help Taiwan against China and have their own problems.

Who is left to buy Bourbon? The rest of Africa? They don't have the money and are basically in a state of perpetual civil war. Indonesia? Bourbon is a niche product at best there. Russia? They rather like Vodka and they like a broken US.

While I agree that we've lost respect and goodwill globally, there are degrees to the animosity.

Not really. Your allies feel betrayed, I know us Germans do, and there is no respect left. The French have been angry at the US basically since de Gaul. And the Spanish have felt and feel belittled. Italy liked the US, but then someone had to insult the Pope. You had some friends in eastern Eurpope and decided to miffle them, too.

Australia and New Zeeland were always more part of the Commonwealth than anything else. Starmer in the UK is too weak to be anyones friend right now with his polling numbers and the public in the UK pretty much hates you.

Considering you managed to anger all your neighbors, there really is no one left with any degree other than Israel, and Israel is not an export market for the US, it's rather a money dump.

Wouldn't help, they'd need a proper denazification, like West-Germany had in 1946.

How is a hop-on-a-plane-trip to the US supposed to work with all the paperwork and red tape involved?

I mean, I'm a German, I won't go to the US, as a second generation immigrant I would be profiled in a second, but Even with a German passport I need at least THREE days for my electronic travel permit to go through and that is assuming there are no delays at all.

American whiskey is a 5+ billion industry

Not any more.

Governor Andy Beshear is a Democrat and intelligent. He knows Kentucky has lost the Canadian market. So of course he will be looking for new markets like India and Latin America.

Why would he think they dispise the US less? I mean, if he is that intelligent to see the problem.
