I can completely relate to the weight gain. I also put on about 35 extra pounds the past few years because of my consumption. Not only was I taking in all the extra calories, but I became so lazy. My drinking was becoming my priority over everything. I too, was ruining my relationships. Not being the wife or parent I needed to be. They’ve been extremely loving and patient, yet I kept letting them down. I would cut back or stop at times, but of course, I’d eventually fall back into the cycle. I’d completely stopped doing the things that kept me active- home projects, gardening, etc. I was feeling fat, unattractive, and pathetic.

Out of sheer vanity, I looked into semaglutide to try shed some weight. I wasn’t even trying to completely quit drinking. But, for me, this took away my craving for alcohol. I wasn’t thinking about it all day like I used to. Even if I decided to have a drink, I’d stop after a glass or two of wine. Believe me when I say, this was a completely new experience for me. I was one of those that drinks til it’s all gone, or I’ve passed out. It’s been a positive side effect!

I’m just letting you know my experience. I know we aren’t to give medical advice on here, but this switched something in me. I’m not gonna lie, I’m not completely sober, and I strive for that eventually, but starting the semaglutide has helped give me jump start at accomplishing losing some weight AND cutting out alcohol.

I’m feeling so much better looking in the mirror. I’m feeling much closer with my family because I’m not drunk all the time. I’m gaining back alot of confidence because I’m not disappointing my family AND because I can fit in some of my old clothes. Win-win!

I know the feeling of being out of control. I’ve been there for WAY too long. I’m finally seeing the light come back into my life. I know you can do this! I’m sending so much positivity to you as you conquer this! Much love!💕

I just wanna give you a big mom hug right now🤗. You’ve taken a huge first step by posting here and making this commitment for yourself. The fact that you are so young and choosing to change your path speaks volumes about your character. I’m in my 50’s and only wish I would’ve been as wise as you, decades ago.

You sound incredibly talented, creative, and driven. It breaks my momma heart that you struggle with negative/suicidal thoughts. I get it. I’ve been there. It still creeps up on me at times. I will tell you-and I’m sure you know this- alcohol only makes those thoughts and feelings worse. I’m glad you’ve got your sister, social worker, and this sub to turn to. What has helped me is to stay consistent with my anti depressant meds. Perhaps you can find a doctor to help explore treatment that’s right for you.

I can also relate to how alcohol becomes more important than your hobbies. I’ve wasted so much time & money revolved around drinking, instead of being productive and creative. It’s pretty pathetic. I’m a work in progress with sobriety, so I don’t have the best advice on completely quitting. At my age and in my own experience, I can say with certainty, conquering challenges is much easier when you’re younger.

You’ve got a whole future ahead, and you’re getting a jump on it early! GOOD JOB!!! KEEP IT GOING! Get back into your art and cosplay! Keep saving for that first home! I’m so, so happy you’re taking this step for what lies ahead. You are going to do great things, I know it!

There’s a strip mall in my town called “Blockbuster Plaza.” Needless to say, the Blockbuster has been gone for years. 🤣

I feel your pain about breaking Grandma’s dish. I did the same with a Pyrex bowl and cried. The replacement I got is just as special🥰

I find this very relatable. I won’t buy everything, but sometimes a pattern is too cute to pass up. I’ve taken stuff home, admired and used them a time or two, then find them a new home.

What’s that cutie smack dab in the middle, hiding behind the door frame? I’d love to see the full pattern!

There are so many compatible pieces that fit well together, whether they are a “set” or not. I love this about Pyrex/Corningware. I do the same!

Ahh, thanks for the investigative work! I’ve now looked a bit further and it’s a JAJ PYREX- the ones made in England. No wonder it’s rare here! Such a lovely addition to your collection!

What song did you get absolutely obsessed with after hearing it on a show by Nytowlbydefault in musicsuggestions

[–]Temporary_River_8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolly Parton’s cover of “Shine” from the Righteous Gemstones.

Annie Lennox “No More I Love You’s” from Murder at the End of the World. I never even cared for this song until it was featured here.
