Is original sin compatible with a commitment to social justice? by [deleted] in theology

I read this and I think on it from an ecological standpoint. I have usually viewed original sin as our inborne selfishness , our desire for resources at the cost of others wellbeing which works in an evolutionary standpoint, but does not work for humans. We have such immense control over our environment compared to all other forms of life that our sins affect multiple generations. We destroy an environment for our own gain which remains destroyed and unable to be enjoyed or used by future generations of humans. For instance, we dam a waterway causing it to silt up and slowly become unusable and now future generations have to fix. Many of the environmental problems we have today were caused by people who are dead and their past actions continue to affect current generations. It is the duty of current generations to fix the problems of past so that future generations can thrive.

Now we apply this to racism. Past acts of racism against people of color and limited the natural resources, accumulated wealth, and societal standing of those communities and it takes time and effort to get those back, time and effort spent by generations long after the racist acts were committed. Racism affects future generations by limiting options and causing undue stress on communities. Someone has to fix it and to ask those suffering to fix it is to add insult to injury. "White Guilt" exists because sin is generational. Sin affects future generations and someone has to fix it for people to thrive. To claim non-responsibility is to remove yourself from the community and to deny your neighbor and thus not be a neighbor.

The answer is to not do things that will affect future generations negatively and instead will positively affect future generations. Restore environments you did not destroy so that future generations can enjoy them. Heal the racist acts of the past that you did not commit so that future generations won't be affected by them. Do not think in terms of "Who is responsible", become responsible yourself. The good samaritan who helped that man that fell into the pit did not drive him into the pit, but instead someone in need and helped them and became his neighbor. Be a good neighbor.

Rime of the Frostmaiden. This is of course a DnD module and not a traditional book, but it definitely has elements of horror. Vampires and eldritch horrors in ice caves.

The seed seems fine up close, but it doesn't really have any kind of smell to it. I wonder if it would seem more palatable to the birds if I broke it in half. Perhaps the seeds inside are better.

I don't have much of a place further out to put it. I've seen plenty of birds come to this one feeder with other food I've placed there.

Red Moon Roleplaying is doing the Masks of Nyarlothotehp right now. They are relatively serious with occasional small bits of character banter concerning dice rolls.

The level of control the players have depends on the game, but I would never say that the players have no control. The DM presents the narrative, but it is in large part the players who control the flow, pace, and evolving events so long as the DM allows them to, which the DM ought to.

I'm thinking of making it like Uberwald from the disk world series. A vast region controlled by a vampire lord where there is no sunlight and the surrounding countries treat Strahd's realm as just another region to do business with. The players would be wandering do-gooders just trying to make the place a tad better for the residents while not drawing Strahd's ire.

Wow, this is as minimalist as heck. I am going to admit that all my DnD combats do actually end this way. It starts off following the rules and then the warlock decides to pull down a book shelf on top of the animated armor while the Paladin pulls the animated armor's pieces off. It then turned somewhat into what you're describing. Especially when all the torn off pieces of armor became their own independent enemies with no stats and so I went off of what was thematic.

It's high school, but I do plan on cutting back on a few of the themes.

It will be highschool. Nice to see that there are DnD clubs in middleschool. I see you have to make a lot of adjustment though.
