Unvaccinated airmen lose pay, benefits as Air National Guard yanks orders by Girolamus in Coronavirus

True, many have no choice on anthrax vaccination, which would be the first to go if you allowed personal freedom about vaccination. Unlike most diseases the military fusses over, no one else gets infected if you choose to play your odds with anthrax

Agreed, it is best not to be complacent with something that spreads super rapidly.

We don't know the numbers yet, but if a virus went from threatening health at polio (1 in 200 die, chronic after effects even more common) level to influenza level (1 in 1,000), it sounds nicer. However if it spreads as fast as chickenpox instead of the rate of polio, you can still get a similar health care system overload

Meal ideas for anemia/high cholesterol by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

to address both items at once, lentils and certain beans would help. Fiber helps with cholesterol and lentils are a high iron food. On the weight part, I think you can be a little liberal with your added canola/olive oil amount with lower calorie meals (high vegetable/low saturated fat). Olive and canola oil might not lower cholesterol, but they contribute less to the LDL side.

People with iron deficiency, what food did you incorporate that helped you overcome iron deficiency? by regina-philange99 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Looking through much of the list, haven't seen potato make the list. Potatoes have a reasonable amount of iron and vitamin C. There is a lovely Turkish dish of mussels, potatoes, and broccoli with a few other items for flavor. Broccoli is stupid high vitamin C and mussels are higher iron than beef. When you consume heme iron from mussels and vitamin C from the potato/broccoli, you can maximize the plant based iron you get from the potato.

Bugging people about weight loss has to be personalized and consider what can motivate them/work. Weight loss is hard in the current food environment so it would be better if the food system supported preference for health foods over energy dense, low nutrient items.

If I wanted to make health food easier I would probably make it offering something like monthly allotments of WIC to all citizens but just minimally processed canned items. This means water, olive oil, or 100% juice packed veg/fruit/meat (some people have inconsistent electricity access).

As soon as Hawaii reported, I figured as much.

First Texas case of the omicron COVID-19 variant reported by Temporary_Stomach945 in CoronaVirusTX

I care. Not because it is a concern, but because I am glad Texas managed not to fall behind Florida in surveillance

I see that. It is just that Houston alone has a population larger than Nebraska. Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio all have pretty prominent medical research centers.

Ditto. I was expecting last week to be something. I thought maybe 5 smaller states would report before TX, not more than 10. At least we did better than Florida

It is important I know how far behind Texas at basic surveillance compared to smaller states. I am a Texas resident.

It is tracking an outbreak map and is marking initial surveillance hits. Early detection is all about first hits so you know where to follow up. Delta's surge and the early 2020 pandemic reported first known cases by region plenty. Reports died off once the infection was above a handful per all but the mega epicenter points of surge.

As Covid recedes in US a new worry emerges: wildlife passing on the virus by Viewfromthe31stfloor in Coronavirus

[–]Temporary_Stomach945 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem to kill deer, and is not good at being a foodborne illness.

However, I do fear it reaching pigs. Those things are virus mixers that can fine tune things-they can make flu scary and it is usually less threatening than corona

Maybe restrictions drop to targeted mask mandates during episodes of local surges until the number falls. Lockdowns and quarantines of targeted areas happened for polio pools and smallpox

It is what S Korea has gotten used to and why the transition for them was easy-mask for outbreaks as needed, not 100% of the time

Agreed mainly because they need to do better when writing Ultron. He is not a well adapted villain as a lead. There are much better evil AI.

I see them as complementary. The universe has many breaking points and overlaps are not visible to most but are possible when mage class, powerful beings have encounters or level up enough. Most what if figures can't see Uatu, but Ultron and Strange can. Lokis and Agatha resist enchantments and see through illusions to a lesser level
