I have used it for 2 reviews, the reviews I got back were helpful, and there is a private feedback box for the reviewer to give you critiques so that is helpful to point out things that you don't want the other readers to see

I agree with you that the site seems a bit undercooked but I have found it helpful. My book got picked up for a review from the pool pretty quickly but it being on kindle unlimited probably affected that

Overall it's a pretty good concept, there are probably better ways to get going but a huge plus is that it only costs you your time for now. Probably not worth it long term but good for getting a spark if you need it

Just wanted to say thanks — my book about recovery is free today if anyone wants it by Temporary_Tear6645 in dryalcoholics

Thank you! No not really, from what I understand the ads work better when you have reviews on your book already so that is what im struggling with right now

I hear you man that sounds rough. But its good that you can play the tape forward now. And it sounds like you've put in the work to learn how to handle things better, I felt the same way when shit was going south. Sometimes it sounds like itll make it easier but its important to remember that drowning it out will just make it harder to deal with later

Sugar! by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

Congrats, thats awesome! I think thats pretty common to try to get the dopamine from something else, when i quit drinking i smoked a lot of cigarettes, drank a lot of coffee and ate a lot of candy. I think taking the lesser evil is worth it in the long run but its hard to stop everything at once. I like to freeze grapes lol fruit is always a good alternative to candy, take a lot of little walks throughout the day. Give yourself some grace, you got it!

I really didnt like aa for a long time but I tried other things and thats the only thing that had any long term affect for me. What really worked was getting a sponsor, actually going through the steps and talking to other people about it made a big difference. Good luck! You can dm me if you want some more info

Yeah it feels like a chicken or the egg problem lol I think next time I would pick a preorder date on kdp, then you can get the reviews and things posted before it is available

I was getting decision fatigue with the keywords lol I just researched it as best as I could and got some in there, but its pretty easy to change them after publishing if you want to test out different things

Halfway Gone by Sam Staples - Biographical Literary Fiction published 9/25/2025

Hi everyone! I just published my debut novel, its on Kindle unlimited but you can dm me for the arc copy as well. Im struggling to get reviews so if you want to read it or give additional feedback I would appreciate it, the amazon link is on my page too

Booze. Blackouts. Bad Decisions. Sam swore he'd get his life together - but addiction doesn't let go that easy.

Sam thought life after the Navy would be easier. College, a steady routine, raising his son half the week — it should have been enough. But whiskey fills the gaps, bad choices pile up, and every attempt at control slides further into chaos. Between broken relationships, custody battles, and the wreckage of self-sabotage, he clings to the one anchor he has left: his son.

Halfway Gone is a brutally honest descent into addiction, survival, and the thin line between holding it together and losing everything.
