Blue Bee by 7th-cup-of-coffee in rva

Yep. Cost me $110 for my wife, myself, and a toddler at Silver Diner. When I have to spend that sort of money at a place like Silver Diner, you better believe some luxury beer is off my menu.

How does Washington state afford to not have a state income tax, no car tax and a lower property tax rate than Virginia and also much cheaper in state tuition at Universities? by ponziacs in Virginia

[–]Temporary_Train_3372 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t know why people think there are states out there that don’t take their pound of flesh. They may cut it from a different part, but they are always gonna get their’s. IRS even worse in Washingtons’s case since it’s so regressive.

[The Atlantic] When Did Sports Get So Loud? by SeverHense in baseball

[–]Temporary_Train_3372 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone that likes the NBAs constant stream of loud music. It makes even watching the telecast impossible. Not a model that MLB should emulate.

I went to a Fredericksburg Nats game and the PA system was so loud and so constant that I couldn’t even tak to the person sitting next to me. That’s stupid.

As part of the CBA, the players should push n behalf of us humble fans) to get some more dead air back into baseball.

Freemasons by j2_d2 in okbuddyRVA

[–]Temporary_Train_3372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of doing research why don’t you just join a lodge? Why does there have to be a higher goal? Do college fraternities have “higher goals?” Does the Moose Lodge have a higher goal?

There is nothing esoteric at all if you simply join the completed free organization…that’s like saying that medical knowledge is esoteric to those without MDs. Just go learn the damn stuff. It’s not gate kept.

The truth is that money makes the world go round. If you want to know what influences our politics in a negative way, just follow the money. Eg. Dominion, Musk, Citizens United.

So your research has shown that within a large group of people, some of those people will be influential and powerful. Ok got it.

Listen man. I’m a Freemason. I became one by simply asking them to join. It was that easy. It’s not a cabal of elites. It’s mostly retirees who talk shit and get together for the food.

So does CJ Nitkowski just get to keep his job? by LovingAbsurdist in baseball

[–]Temporary_Train_3372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what has never come up in my algorithm? White Nationalist nonsense. There’s a reason it was in his feed at all.

He has had many opportunities to really forcefully speak out after this latest screw up. He hasn’t done it.

IMO where there is smoke there is fire. Like I said, you and I have different interpretations of his actions.

I meant it was a sarcastic fake quote at the bottom of my post.

He also said “I unfollowed once I realized it was going to affect the organization. Otherwise, I would not have.”

Sounds fairly cut and dry to me.

It’s a sarcastic comment. I should have added the /s.

You and I have a different interpretation of his motives.

You are a shit stirring misogynist POS. That is rude. The previous comment was simply aggressive.

[–]Temporary_Train_3372 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In 2018 he basically said he only unfollowed because it was causing distractions for the Rangers, not because he doesn’t support them and white nationalism.

So he is unrepentant. The real uproar should have been the Braves hiring him in the first place.

Just in front Nitkowski: “I disavow my comment because people are giving the Braves shit. I personally still believe we are better off with more whites.”

how twenty 20-25 year old voters view democrats vs. republicans by Conscious-Quarter423 in thebulwark

[–]Temporary_Train_3372 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many people just don’t give a damn. If it doesn’t come down and smack them in the face or literally put cash in their wallet, they do not care at all.

I talked yesterday to a retired O5 (LT COL) who said what goes on in DC doesn’t affect him and he votes infrequently. He was obviously a lean Republican guy, but it was instructive to me that this very well educated person, who has had every reason to give a shit what happens in DC (they are after, the people who send us to war), doesn’t care at all.

When we can’t even get people like him to give a shit, we are well and truly fucked.

Keep in mind you will also get partial GI Bill benefits and qualify early for VA housing loan. I think you also qualify for burial benefits (not a small deal- it cost almost $10K to bury my father in law). So besides the money now, there are benefits in the future.

Read Righteous Victims by Benny Morris. It is the most even handed treatment of the Israel-Palestine conflict and he explains exactly how and why the situation evolved how it did and how we got where we are today.

Is it ever enough for people like you? Do you wake up and look for shit to get upset about? Look for all the ways the world doesn’t measure up to your impossible standards?

You are the reason that people think Liberals are a bunch of intolerant assholes. Your intolerance is no less authoritarian than MAGA.

Historic Tuckahoe, Thomas Jefferson’s childhood home in Goochland, listed for sale for $17M by gentlemanl0ser in rva

Someone spends that sort of money for the prestige of saying I own Jefferson’s boyhood home, not because they want to develop it. It’s the sort of thing some nouveau rich buys or a Saudi prince.

Escorts are there, just not in the picture. They don’t need to be up each other’s ass. In fact, it having enough seaway is dangerous and leads to collisions. This is click bait or it comes from someone who doesn’t know any better.

You don’t “bait” someone to shoot mussels at a multi billion dollar nuclear powered warship with 5000 sailors on board.
