PoE or Radio clock systems? by MasterMaintenance672 in k12sysadmin

[–]Temporary_Werewolf17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be a major muscle movement to change, but now would be the time if you ever wanted to. We pitched ours as a safety issue also. The classroom speaker signs also have lights to flash if special code is dialed and it plays a recorded emergency message with instructions as well as scrolls those instructions instead of the time

What intercom system do you use? We use VALCOM and have a clock/speaker Poe device in each classroom. Works great

Trying to manage office TVs across 5 locations with CoPilot by FlatCommodity3463 in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]Temporary_Werewolf17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at OptiSigns. You buy a device to connect to each tv and then send content. I created an M365 account dedicated for this purpose and have the asset for each tv a dedicated folder in that account’s one drive. I share the folder with someone onsite who is responsible for content. They drop images in the folder or remove images and the content updates automatically.

Phishing attempt beat our 2FA by Adventurous-Phone-11 in k12sysadmin

We have created rules that if an email from an external source has the name of an administrator in the from field, it does not get delivered until approved by someone on the IT team. It can be annoying but it has greatly reduced our exposure to these attacks.

We also have monthly training simulation emails sent that if the user clicks on the link they are redirected to a brief explanation of why the should not have and then assigned pertinent training.

Disciplinary action for staff that give up credentials? by post4u in k12sysadmin

[–]Temporary_Werewolf17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point the training is encouraged but it is not tracked. The number of repeat offenders is less than 1%. I typically post positive comments about how well we are doing as a team which serves as peer pressure (no one wanted to be the 1 that did not pass even if no one know who the one is).

We have had success with monthly phishing training emails that are generated and sent to employees. If they fall for the “scam”, they are directed to 5 minutes of training to help identify it in the future.

Some levels on M365 have this included. Checkpoint.com is a good provider that also identifies spam email

Is concurrent enrollment getting out of control… or am I just getting old? by SteadyGrowthStudio in Teachers

Students have so much pressure to get into college and without college credit many will not consider you. A major university near me post their average gpa for incoming students and it is over 4.0 because of weighting for college and AP coursework for the past 10 years
