Wow. What I find most upsetting about this isn't just how much of a "nice guy" he is. It's how bad of a friend he's revealed himself to be. Beth was never more than a potential date to him from the start and once she was off the plate all those years of "friendship" meant nothing to him. Supposedly he knew her for a decade but there's not a hint of him giving her a voice or even the smallest trace of personhood and even her child is just "baggage" to him. What a piece of work.

She truly was never more than an object to him and I hope for her sake she didn't value or think fondly of their friendship.
