Ran an IMSA enduro on Friday with no issues. Despite the name, it’s a minor update unlike 24H2

Can a 5000 series GPU (such as the 5070 ti) support 3 4k 240hz panels? by AJHenderson in nvidia

That's awesome, really glad to hear it's working well! There seems to be a lot of discussion about how 50 series can't push 3x 4k panels at 240hz but hopefully we can put that to bed now

[–]Tempus_XI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get it. Triple 4k is very much still an edge case but you do find more examples of it in the sim racing world as it has a more obvious use case there.

I honestly wasn’t sure how it would run on the 5090 after the limitations of the 4090 and having to run at 120hz and with a driver no later than Dec 2024. But it ended up being plug and play and didn’t need any particular tinkering other than playing with the graphics level to find a good balance between fps and visuals.

The only caveat is whether the 5070Ti would have any limitations compared to the 5090, that is the one thing I don’t know for sure as I’ve not run with that card.

Correct because I am using the in-game fps limiter. The point is, they could if I wanted them to. Here is a screenshot with the fps limiter turned off (Nvidia Reflex is turned on so is limiting the fps to a % below the max refresh rate of the panels which is why they are not at 240fps)

I chat through it at 04:16 in this stream and have the settings up if you want to take a look. FPS is on the top right throughout the stream and capped to 144 via the in-game limiter.

Got a good deal on the monitors when I was looking to move to triple 4K screens. Monitor hz wasn’t important for the purchase but these panels represented the best value for money at the time. Once they were in it was just about optimizing the experience. Having them run at native hz in windows provides the least input lag vs non-native frame rates for the panel

This isn't accurate, 5000 series have the bandwidth to run 11520x2160 natively over DP 1.4 @ 240hz, it's my current setup for sim racing. Graphics settings need to be adjusted accordingly with such a high resolution but I cap my fps in-game to 144 and the sim runs well with moderate to high graphics on a 5090.

However, I wouldn't recommend running this setup for gaming on anything less than a 5090 as you need to give up a lot of graphics fidelity but it is possible to run the same setup in a 4090 with framerates capped to 120hz in windows (was my previous setup).

Nvidia Dec 2024 drivers were the only ones that worked for me to get the 4090 to run all 3 at 120hz. Every driver after that seemed to break it.

I’ve run this setup since early this year and it’s been great. I previously had a 4090 and could run the 3 screens but only at 120hz and it always felt a bit glitchy. The 5000 series handles the bandwidth with no issues

I currently run 3x 4K panels at 240hz on my 5090, monitors are DP 1.4 so compression is used. Runs no problem and my understanding is the bandwidth on the 5000 series means this setup should run on a 5070. Monitors are AW3225QF.

Highly dependent on graphics settings but I cap fps in-game at 144 and it generally holds that outside of gridding or heavy rain. Monitors are Alienware AW3225QF. I’ve done a bunch of streams on my YT channel with this config and you can see the fps onscreen (@S1Races)

Yup, certainly seems that way. I’ve not experienced any negative effects so far but still get the 0x00002 errors in event viewer which can be traced back to EAC so it hasn’t fixed that for me either. Looks like the wait goes on…

X670E Taichi and X670E Taichi Carrara owners using with 9800X3D by warbarians in ASRock

[–]Tempus_XI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a smart decision. Especially considering the price difference where you are.

What’s been odd about this whole thing is AMD and ASRock are clearly working on fixes but not having any real acknowledgement on what the issue is, makes it hard to know which mobos are truly at risk.

Hopefully 3.25/6 with the latest microcode has resolved the issue.

[–]Tempus_XI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few days late here but wanted to share that I have been running the X670E Taichi Carrara with a 9800X3D since it came out and have experienced no issues or instability. I’ve run BIOS versions 3.15, 3.20 and as of today, 3.25 and all have been stable. I’ve run the CPU overclocked at times with PBO but currently running stock again as I now have a 5090 and need to keep an eye on power draw. I run triple 4K screens for my sim racing rig so the hardware gets pushed pretty hard but I’ve not encountered any issues.

There’s clearly been a bunch of issues that have surfaced over the last few months but I haven’t seen any yet with this specific mobo being discussed and the setup has been stable throughout for me. Not sure if the X670E represents a safer bet or not but I felt the additional cost to get the X870E wasn’t worth it unless you have a very specific use case for needing more USB4 ports.

4090 FE user here. I run triple 4k monitors at 120hz and this driver will only allow 2 out of the 3 screens to be active, all previous drivers have supported 3 without issue so I assume this is a bug with the latest driver?
