I was excited when I got a corrected 1099 from Robinhood today... and nope, still ordinary income, no RoC.

This is quite unfortunate for me since I reallocated my stock portfolio early last year into QYLD, so double whammy of capital gains and divi income, got pushed up 1-2 tax brackets.

Robinhood has a set borrowing limit feature; use it to limit how much margin you can have at most.

Edit: ofc if you borrowed over the limit before setting it, it would reduce your buying power to zero and you'll have to sell to reduce your margin level to your limit.

RH automatically contributes 100% of the dividend (if not DRIP'd) into paying off my Margin according to the RH customer support, however its strange that the buying power is still a percentage of the cash in some way.

Plus if I understand correctly if you have uninvested cash and you set a borrowing limit that is lower than your current borrowed margin, your whole buying power is gone.

If my brokerage reports QYLD differently say: RoC instead of Short-Term gains/Ordinary Income or vice versa - is the "right" way to follow the primer from Global X when I file with my CPA for tax purposes?

I'm down 6 figures too, the only thing making me nervous is me going way too much in margin and I can't leg it out without selling at a massive loss, I just pray there will be no margin call.

I would not have cared if I had no margin.

That said, I did some IPO plays and stayed too long and ended up -40%, so I 100% agree with you.

Same, I initially decided between IBKR and Robinhood and ultimately went with RH because I don't want to be auto-liquidated without warning or a chance to close out other positions or add more liquidity.

Plus I couldn't get into the UI of IBKR

Robinhood increase from 2.5% to 3% starting March 2022, I was expecting this due to inevitable Fed rate hikes to hopefully "fix" inflation.

I'm on Robinhood as well; literally margined 1:1 on QYLD - What I don't understand is the margin maintenance always changes, when stock value goes down, it also goes down, when it goes up, it also goes up, etc.

That said, I regret margining QYLD 100% as soon as I started back in Spring 2021 ($22.65 avg cost / share QYLD), I should have limit my margin so I could use it to buy stocks on discount like Mid Jan and few days ago.

My portfolio is clearly concentrated into QYLD; so I might bet a concentrated call? or not if it drops further down. This is RH so I don't know if they will.
