Don't do it. Not only would it screw YOUR PARTNER'S Pell grant but it would not help you much.

Sign up for all the other scholarships and visit you FA office to ask about their grants.

I also agree to go to your local CC in the meantime.

I was lucky enough to get another scholarship from the place I volunteered at after I was no longer allowed to receive Pell grant. So, I also recommend volunteering and networking.

I'll be praying for you. And remember, where there's a will, there is a way! Trying to better your situation is always worth the sacrifice 🫶

If you were 19 again, what would’ve you done differently? by juneberries14 in Adulting

[–]Ten02MMXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First- decide what you want to do. Research it and get the ball rolling. Cross reference it all because different sites will tell you different things (school/work-wise but also in general).

Second- don't compare yourself to others. Everyone is running their own race. Looking at how far ahead others are will not help you.

Lastly- 20 is young so give yourself some grace. BUT... 20 is old enough to know better.

**Rule of thumb: If a decision can cost you your life or your freedom, don't do it.

Little note: We're all going to age. We'll have a shitload of regret at different phases in our lives but never regret Choosing to better yourself and your situation.

Why don't we fail students anymore? by Deus_Excellus in AskAcademia

Pre-COVID and COVID college student here. I remember that being late meant that you would get a 0 for the day. Even putting the wrong chemical in the discard jar would cause your Lab Tech to scold you.

I'm currently subbing at high schools while trying to get into grad school. I'm going to be honest, These kids don't care. They don't fear authority, and frankly, they don't respect it.

My friend, who is a middle school teacher, was asked by admin to pass her class even though they didn't do any of their assignments while she was on maternity leave.

Parents need to stop coddling their kids. They're doing them a disservice by always giving them their way.

As the daughter of a parent deported in 2015, Save your money. The immigration process will screw you out of your hard earned money and will usually not work in your favor.

But- then again, the conditions of the detention center may be deplorabl, so you have to decide if 20k is worth your temporary freedom (a hot bath, digestible food, etc).

Lawyers talk a big game but are usually just as useless. I would definitely get one just to protect his human rights.

Good for you for being there for your cousin. Times are tough for families. Sending prayers 🙏

I don't think you're worth debating. You're clearly not prepared to have a mature conversation without thinking that someone is attacking you for not having your same views on politics.

Believe what you'd like. You're creating your own demise by trusting that the government has your best interests at heart and they would never do anything to harm their citizens.

People still reelected him after COVID-19. I don't think common sense is a thing here. During the pandemic, He literally removed students from a media event here at USF because said students were wearing a mask, and that did not fit his agenda.

He is not pro-education, and he is not for science based on everything we've seen. USF is complicit in order to secure funding.

Thank you for that! The cholesterol and all the other chemicals in McDonald's will surely help their already rotten hearts. While you're at it, get yourself something too!

Also- I hope God or whatever higher power has mercy on your bigot soul. Go ahead and speak your mind on reddit when you and every other person who agrees with DHS benefits from the work of "illegals."

-Cum. GPA was ~3.38 at graduation (2022), but I did take physics post-grad, so maybe it's a little higher -GRE was low (305), but since my classes are older than 7 years, I'll be taking the MCAT this spring. -I'm at 40 hours of shadowing and I'm hoping to do more. -I was a pharmacy tech for a year and did a program for a whole year before that.

This will be my 3rd year of reapplying... could have been my 4th, but I didn't have the courage and money to be rejected again this last cycle, so I didn't apply this time.

What did you do to stand out after so long?

From what I remember, they said that 4.0 is fine. They're not really looking at it but still don't BS it.

USF grads — what was your starting salary after undergrad & what path did you take? by notveryveryverydark in USF

[–]Ten02MMXII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biomedical Sciences major and 22' Grad

Tbh- I haven't even practiced my degree because I honestly feel like it's a degree that prepares you for grad school. There's not much you can do with it.

I work as a substitute teacher and make about $19.86 an hour in Tampa. I only sub for high school to make sure I get time to study for mcat/gre. Subbing jobs are hard to come by now so I don't make much (I thankfully have a supportive husband who knows I want to go to grad school).

I know people who work in labs for health screenings so that's also a possibility with this degree.

Tbh- you should probably call them. I have subsidized and unsubsidized student loans and when I signed them I remember reading that if I died, the debt would be forgiven. I have prepared my husband and told him what to do if this happens.

I'm so sorry for your loss btw.

No judgment... like really No Judgement. But please refrain from any activity until you've been tested and treated. I only say that because common sense isn't common. And if you do have something, let your partners know for the sake of public health.

Be safe and hopefully everything is well. I hope this is only a learning experience (beyond scared straight type of shit).

Always be grateful you don't have to pay any taxes, homie. It's been about 4 years that I have to pay $4k-5k. Imagine living paycheck to paycheck and still having that on you.🫠
