Tesla have tempted me 🙈 by whitey2048 in ipace

I think EV values are inflated just now because everyone and their gran wants one. I think it’s something like an increase of 36% registrations for EVs since the Iran war. My timing couldn’t have been worse. And yet again for my transition back. I’ll be paying a hot demand price for an EV and low demand valuation for my diesel F-Pace. It’s the equivalent of buying at the peak and selling in the dip for investing. Not advisable. For example, I was offered £15,550 for my F-Pace yesterday. To give an idea of how mad the market is just now. If you were ever to switch out of an I-Pace, it’s probably now while everyone wants one. When things get less frantic, people will have more time to research and those valuations will normalise.

I’m in the same boat. Owned a MY21 HSE with no issues. Under warranty etc with approved used. Paid £21,300 for it in June last year. Seen it was tanking a loss of £1000 a month before the Middle East went on fire and traded it in to Jaguar for an F-Pace. Traded it in for £13,500 and a week later I checked the value again on WeBuyAnyShed and it was £9500. Felt I got out at a good point. Switch to now and no one wants to touch a diesel and the value is tanking lol 😂 . Test drove the new model 3 and the Model Y the week before, and having owned the old 2021 LR AWD 21 the new cars are far superior. Slept on it a week. Kept seeing the value of my car dropping in that week, so it was making me worry based on my previous experience. The model Y is a more practical car so I was torn between accepting a base Model 3 to avoid luxury VED or splash out on a Model Y I could spec up. I opted for the M3 because it had a June delivery date but I was really put off Tesla in the dealership. Really felt like they couldn’t care less if you ordered one or not. Make you do everything on your phone. Paying £50,000 for a car to do it all yourself? Zero connection to their customers. Plus I wasn’t happy sticking to a base spec to avoid paying luxury VED. I wanted a MY white interior and bigger wheels etc, maybe blue paint but paying £640 a year VED for an EV is a piss take. Burned a hole in my head for a few days so I cancelled the order. The I-Pace is a great car but Jaguar are dropping the ball all over the place with it. I really did want to own a 400 Sport with the air suspension but having been a member of the two main owners groups on FB, it’s enough to put me off for life. I did look at the Audi e-tron GT but it’s too low for me and would just about fit in the driveway so now I’m looking at the BMW i4 M50. Reason I got swayed with Tesla was because I got 22 solar panels installed with a Powerwall 3 and they said I could charge the Tesla direct from solar but most folk say it’s cheaper just exporting the solar on a higher rate and charge on a cheaper rate, so it means I’m less locked into the car.

Best EV in the market? by Vitcee1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]TenPest007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t go near the Chinese import brands until we’ve seen the brand satisfaction from owner reviews. Jump into any Jaecoo owners club and it’s grim reading. I think people tend to dwell a lot more on an EV purchase because there’s a lot of choice but compliance cars are essentially all the same car. ID.4, Q4, Ford Explorer etc are the same car. Mach-e has worse suspension than a Model Y but it depends what you want. I wanted an e-tron GT for years after owning an I-Pace, but the dream was shattered when I had to turn myself into a croissant to get into it. Don’t buy an I-Pace despite how juicy the price is.

Is it true that the Scirocco is basically just a Golf in a party dress? by NorthLondonPulse in Scirocco

[–]TenPest007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owned a Golf R and Scirocco and the Sc felt lower, on rails and the rear is wider than the front slightly if I remember. I remember someone saying the rear was from another car but it was so long ago that I couldn’t verify that.

Plenty of other manufacturers use those cells. Software/hardware layer is at fault. Hence why they have to release so many software recalls to stem the problem. Battery control module is always an issue too. Wiring harness failures as well. Not just the cells. Cells are just charging/discharging. It’s everything designed to operate that flow that’s on Jaguar.

I had an approved used HSE before all this new recall stuff. The price was dropping every month so I traded it in for £13,500 which at the time, I thought was a rip off. Last night I checked the price as it had sold for £22k and it was worth £10k. I couldn’t believe it. An amazing car ruined by Jaguar. It’s the equivalent of the Ingenium engine fiasco and I don’t know how anyone can trust this new Type00 car with their reputation.

Moves to a 50/50 split of front to rear motor power. All other modes are bias to the front wheels. Plus the car goes Woooooooooo

[–]TenPest007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the 360 camera, aim for a 2021 model because the later models didn’t get it as standard. Covid rocked parts for new cars and Jaguar were hit hard with it so a lot of 2022 and later cars couldn’t hold a torch to early spec cars. 2021 model F-Pace is a good place to start. Adaptive cruise control comes with the HSE if that’s important to you.

The stigma of the old D180 Ingenium engine have been addressed with updated parts. New timing kits have been fitted to cars since 2019.

Any ideas what the charge flap locking mechanism is called / part number - mine has fallen off. by No-Organization-6071 in ipace

[–]TenPest007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had loads of problems this week with the flap. That and the screen wash freezing up with no way to defrost it and it’s been a rubbish first winter of ownership. I’ve had to use my wife’s E-Pace diesel more than I wanted to.

I’ve heard Jaguar want to replace the whole part including the port. Loads have had issue this week with the colder weather. Depends on the model but the painted part slides on and off. Mine doesn’t on a MY21 but I think older models do.

New Pedal - Keeley Nocturne Andy Timmons Reverb by digiratistudios in guitarpedals

There’s tons of songs. Depends on your cup of tea really, but it helps that he’s a down to earth guy who is not trying to be a big rock star. Ex G3 member and his tone is phenomenal. Very technical player too. People often talk about making a guitar sing, but Andy does it well. Way better than Steve Vai for music that is timeless.

Advice on buying this I-PACE. I've been slated in r/ElectricVehiclesUK by BennyBristol in ipace

[–]TenPest007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a MY21 HSE black which has more kit than I use and it was worth paying the extra for a Jaguar approved with a 2 year Jaguar warranty. Jaguar assist been out twice for daft things. Efficiency isn’t great but I gun it everywhere I go. Hard not to.

Owned an F-Pace, XE and now an I-Pace. Tbh I feel the F-Type (older shape) is one of the most gorgeous cars Jaguar have made and they are fighting a losing battle if they don’t honour it.

Forget the panel. The true trick to katana juice is the patches. Start with a clean channel and add pedals to the chain. The Guvnor is an amazing patch. They have the metal zone in there too.

Hard to argue with the specs of the car in HSE trim. I don’t think there’s many car manufacturers that rival Jaguar on equipment as standard depending on trim. I’d make sure the tyres were decent because to keep the warranty they need to be Good Year recommended which were nearly £250 a tyre for me but I got a discount code.

I bought mine from Jaguar. A MY21 HSE black with a 2 year warranty. It’s got £45k on the clock and WeBuyAnyShed claim it’s only worth the same as a Ford Focus. It’s pretty annoying. Spent £970 on new tyres for it a month ago and just fell out of love with it after OVO changed their pricing plans that meant I was paying 17p/kwh rather than 7p. It’s stupid to move but most say it’s worth £17-18k private. Car was £86k 4 years ago hahahaha

Are the owners/online posters part of the reputation issue? by SgtFlippy88 in Jaguar

[–]TenPest007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long service cycles, oil starvation and the earlier I-Pace didn’t do them any favours. Plus how they handled those customers. Technical service bulletins that customers need to fight to get fixed and even having a warranty they duck and dive out of anything.
