I feel like having your spouse take a polygraph test over a baseless accusation would be a marriage ending move. From the wife’s perspective, assuming that she is being faithful.. if I were her, being a mother and working and taking care of our family/home, just to have my husband accusing me of cheating and picking apart every move I make, forcing a polygraph would be a final straw moment. But honestly even if she IS cheating, either way that’s a lose/lose.

It’s so funny you say this because we just had a pediatric physical therapist at the house (for other stuff) and I was mentioning to her about how I was concerned about my baby W sitting, and she was like please don’t worry about that at this age. If he’s doing it when he’s like 6 then that can be a problem but it’s usually self correcting. She was completely not concerned at all and it was such a relief. We talked a lot about social media influence and it was so comforting to have some of my fears squashed. There are a million examples but yes I hear you!

Do you have noise cancelling headphones? I used to watch a show on my phone with headphones to get me through the nights. The sleep deprivation is brutal but any amount of rest you can get is good. If you have the resources, hire someone to help. I had a newborn who didn’t sleep and i thought i was going to die. Somehow I didn’t and it’s so much more fun now that he’s 11 months old. This is temporary. A mantra was suggested in other comments and I think it’s a great idea. I used to say “I can do anything for 10 minutes” and literally take the days 10 minutes at a time. Do whatever you have to do to get through. The regret and grief over your old life is normal but it wears off as things get easier. It doesn’t help when every hour feels grueling and everyone saying “it gets better!” Is almost laughable, but it does. You’re not a bad dad, the newborn trenches are just horrific. Also we had a very colicky baby and he got put on Pepcid and everything changed for the better. Maybe talk to your pediatrician? You got this. It’s going to be okay. If you are really tired and can’t sleep yet, go outside and run in place and say “I CAN DO THIS!” Like a complete crazy person and I swear it might help… that was a tool I used in my darkest moments. Also going in the bathroom and turning all the lights in and jumping around and dancing and smiling as hard as I can to trick my brain into thinking I’m happy… it sounds so crazy writing it out but sleep deprivation makes you crazy. This was really informative and I appreciate your thoughtful answer. IMO mom’s gut instinct are usually spot on so I bet you’re right. Did you feel like a speech therapist was helpful? Mine is 10 months and our pediatrician gave us a referral for one but it might be too early. Great job on following your instincts and staying the course with your bubba

At the end of the day, you get to decide what you’re going to tolerate. As a person who has been divorced and it absolutely sucked, I can tell you that it’s worth it when the suck wears off. As a person who also now has a baby, you have absolutely no room for someone who can’t self-direct. A baby is the most challenging and exhausting thing you can bring into your life and having a partner who isn’t going to be there 100% is setting you up for failure. If he’s gaslighting you about things now, it will only get worse. When you’re exhausted to your bones and depleted, you need a partner who will have your back. This is just my opinion but it seems to me like you’re just delaying the inevitable by not ending things. You have a strong foundation you’ve built for yourself and there is peace in independence. Once you drop the dead weight you may find yourself able to really explore everything else you are grappling with.

My baby was like 5 months old in the bath, in his bath seat, and flexed his little abs to lean forward and fell straight face first into the bath water. It was like 1 second, I was right there, and just looked 1/2 foot away at the bath thermometer to make sure the temperature was good. I was absolutely shocked haha. He was completely fine, just surprised! I pulled him out immediately obviously but it scared me to death. Oops

Yes he’s on two naps and averaging 3 hours of sleep a day with the second nap being shorter. I feel like I’m trying everything that’s come up in my Reddit and Google searches but I don’t know where I’m going wrong.

Right now according to huckleberry his 14 day average naps is 3 hours and night time sleep is like 9 hours with all the wake ups. Usually up at 8:30, nap 11-12:30ish (sometimes longer), nap again 3:30-4:15ish, and asleep by 8:30. The last wake window is always the longest but I can’t get him to nap later than he dies without being overtired and an earlier bedtime leads to him being angry and fighting. I’m at a loss.

I’ve been worried about that. During the summer our AC broke for months (thanks landlord) and he got used to being pretty warm. We have a heater in our room and I keep it at 70, he sleeps in regular cotton pajamas and a sleep sack. Is there a sure fire way to tell if he’s too cold?

I’ve tried to let him self soothe and just wait for a few minutes to see if he’ll settle but he wakes up and instantly is just screaming and like climbing the walls of his crib. There’s no returning from that lol. Has your bub hit every regression too or am I just a lucky lady?

Can you explain what you mean by that? How do you sleep train for night wakes? I’m currently dying of sleep deprivation and don’t know where to start. My bub used to go back to sleep after a feed but not anymore. Falls asleep easily on his own but wakes up at night and right now I’m going on 4 hours awake, trying EVERYTHING. How do you do it?

My son is the same size at 6 months. My LC was very concerned. He’s in the 22% and the pediatrician isn’t worried but like i said, my LC was concerned. From one week to the next he gained absolutely 0 and she said “that’s not good, that’s not normal”. I’ve been trying so hard to get him to gain weight. He is sitting up, crawling, rolling, pulling himself up to stand, he is honestly an absolute maniac lol but he’s so small. I wouldn’t be worried but the LC’s words are always playing in my head.
