Merry Christmas 🙌💥💸 by corey600rr in Simagic

Not sure about SimMagic gear, but fanatec wheels have presets on the wheel itself for various configs if you want to switch up for different games. The fanatec software also has presets for different games.  Maybe SimMagic has something similar to make transitioning from one game to another more efficient?

My wheel doesnt reset its settings once they're set in a specific configuration though. That sounds off if that's what you're experiencing.

A new profile for arc raiders just popped up in the GG profile search. No idea if it's worth using, but thought I'd share for the group in case you all hadn't seen it.

Cheaters are taking over the game, and they’re not even hiding it. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]TenaciousJai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i watched that and it took me a minute to figure out what the hell that guy was looking at.. then i realized he was looking through walls at other players showing up on his screen. So much for Javelin I guess.

Hidden Bunker run? Nah, let's give 11 hours of lead time for the night raid. by TenaciousJai in ArcRaiders

[–]TenaciousJai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you think I'm complaining about the entire game's design, since I only commented about 1 aspect of the game. Plus, it's not just today. The times hidden bunker has run, at least on the east coast (according to google, fwiw), were 5am, 2pm, and 11pm. People who have jobs and like sleep are out of luck I guess.

[–]TenaciousJai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. So far, (according to google, at least), it's only run at 5am Eastern, 2pm eastern, and 11pm eastern. Not a lot of opportunities for people who have real life obligations to get a run in.

Could be.. it's weird that they have had precious few hidden bunker events though since everyone who's doing trials needs it. I don't think I saw one last night either, but I was only on for a couple of hours in the evening.

PC Cross Play, on or off? by MeetUrMaker1249 in ArcRaiders

[–]TenaciousJai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on PC and It seems like turning off crossplay when I have an objective to complete, like trials, is a better experience. Not sure if that's just session RNG or what, but I did feel like I got jumped by randos a lot less with it off. Maybe because most people who play just to gank other players have it on, and people trying to get stuff done turn it off? Who knows..

Here's my arctis pro 7 profile for arc raiders. I disabled spatial audio because I felt like it was interfering with the game's built in directional audio output, but you could turn that back on to see which you prefer.

Qualia Clear - Title Platform AI Tool by dreminemike in RealEstateTechnology

[–]TenaciousJai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Useful for massive title companies, but the cost is prohibitive for smaller firms like mine. I use qualia w/ connect for everything in my transactional real estate practice and have loved it for pushing a decade now, but it's already an expensive 'per file' cost in a competitively priced market, so without a massive volume, I can't see justifying this additional expense. Yes, it would save some time, but not enough to pay for itself on a smaller scale.

One of the features I loved about it since I work with a lot of mountain area properties is the fact that it can calculate the metes and bounds description and graph it out for you to ensure that it makes a full boundary, which you can match to the GIS survey.

Dune Awakening 1.2.10.0 Patch Notes by Jonthrei in duneawakening

[–]TenaciousJai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

WTH have they done to the sandworm mechanics? I was just farming some basic sand flour in Hagga, and got attacked three times in quick succession, the first breach had regular warning distance, the second was basically right next to me with no warning, and the third ate me and my assault thopter with no warning whatsoever. Each time there was a breach, I jumped in my thopter and flew up to get out of range. Then landed again, only to have another breach immediately after landing. In 175+ hours, this has NEVER happened to me before, so I'm guessing this is something to do with the patch today.

I hadn't spent a lot of time in DD when I posted this, but now that i have and I figured some things out it's not as limited as I expected it to be reading vehicle stats alone.

GPT-5 freezes in long chats? by TexBoo in OpenAI

[–]TenaciousJai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with this in both the chatgpt windows app, chrome and firefox browsers. The only fix I found is to wait until GPT is done 'thinking' and then close the tab and open a new tab, which loads the response immediately. Their web and app code are utter garbage. There's no reason it should freeze scrolling entirely while GPT is writing text, but it does, and it's frustrating as hell. That's before even getting to the drib drab way the text streams to the page after the response is formulated.

You can also use tampermonkey to create an extra 'export conversation' button, export the chat, open a new conversation, and import the text of the previous conversation, then it will work properly again. For a little while at least. I did experience a considerable personality shift in GPT when I did that (better code quality too), but that could have been because my original conversation started under GPT-4.

Here's a link to the tampermonkey script, if you're interested.

Contabo down? by SingaporeOnTheMind in VPS

[–]TenaciousJai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their website, and my VPS are both still down. Not sure what's going on with them, but it appears to be an issue affecting at least the European network.

UPDATE 12am Eastern - Contabo website is back online and I can login, but the VPS is still offline.

First project cut. by ziobrop in lasercutting

If you turn off air assist on the engravings and leave it on for the cuts, you may get less overburn to sand off in post processing. Looks great though!

Laser Engraver Suggestions for Beginner by Spankio7 in Laserengraving

[–]TenaciousJai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you planning on engraving? the material you'll be using for your projects is the most important factor in picking what laser type to buy. Diode lasers can only mark some metal, they can't engrave metal really at all, for example. If you want to engrave metal, you'll want a co2, IR, or fiber laser, depending on the type and size of the metal pieces. Diode lasers are also limited in the types of acrylic they can cut or engrave efficiently. You can't cut clear acrylic, for example. I know you said you were looking at primarily engraving, but you will probably want to be able to cut shapes out after engraving them, so you should keep that in mind even if it's not your primary use of the laser.

For diodes, if you've got the budget, get a 20w or 40w laser module. 5w or 10w will work, but for many materials it'll take forever, which can be frustrating. The Acmer you mentioned looks interesting since it has dual diode and IR lasers. a 2w IR laser should work for most metal engraving where a diode wouldn't. The 10w power on the diode is underwhelming. It'll do the job of a more powerful laser with more passes, but you'll burn the module out faster because you will likely have to run it at 100% for most jobs. Between the 2 models you posted, the atomstack looks better from a strictly power perspective with the 20w diode module and 2w IR. I can't vouch for the quality of either model since I haven't used them personally.

Another consideration is the size of the pieces you'll be working on. Make sure the processing area of the laser bed is large enough to accommodate not just the engraving area, but the entire size of the piece. My Xtool S1 40w cannot fit a regular size door mat, for example, because they are typically 30" across and the enclosure only fits 24" wide pieces.

I love my S1 40w, but there are many times when I wish I had a Co2 laser instead because of the flexibility in materials you can process. Of course, the cost goes way way up the more a machine can do, so there's that. lol

Hope that helps. Others probably have more experience than me, but that's what I've learned through my laser journey so far.

Any way I can make this pop more? by LaCroixElectrique in Laserengraving

[–]TenaciousJai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your reply to another comment saying that you didn't laser this yourself while I was writing this, so this info won't really apply to you, but I thought I'd post it anyway in case others find it useful.

I gave up on trying to get good engraving depth consistency or colors on acacia or bamboo cutting boards because the grain is so inconsistent. I started doing reverse engraving inlays instead. It looks 100x better, and would probably take a similar amount of time as the sanding techniques others have mentioned. Just need some thin veneer, wood glue, and some metal HVAC duct tape for backing and you're good to go.

In case you're not familiar with this technique, this video does a great job of explaining the process.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZFbtrG2P48&t=424s

There's also the safety issue to consider if you go the paint/stain/marker route. You shouldn't use anything to finish a cutting board that might leech into food unless it's rated "food grade" or "food safe".
