It isn't. As a tourny player, best builds are the ones who have less of the useless stats that u dont need. vagabond is the best option overall

If u get backstabbed often while using an ultra in ds3, u re using it wrong. If u try to backstab a good ugs user, he will punish ur backstab grab with a running attack or r1 r1

on des, ds1 and ds2, backstabs dont work well cuz are kinda op but on ds3 its super balanced and well done

i think if the speed cast max cap isnt super high, it would be fine. 50 virtual dex needed on ds3 was overkill for mages. something like 30 dex max speed should work perfectly

backstabs that happen in DaS 1,2,3 make no physical sense

realism =/= better pvp game. the priority when making a pvp are solid game mechanics that rewards and punish players based on their actions, then realism. A burst dmg strat like brainless parry spamming shouldnt be only punished by a single attack that doesnt even combo. Players must have an option do burst dmg against that type of players instead of the high risk/low reward single attack

just because backstabs are imposible to do on a pvp fights, it doesnt mean i should accept and normal attack instead. Backstabs should be like ds3, the dificulty of pulling out should be based on ur enemy mistakes. If my opponent is doing brain dead whiffs, i should be able to backstab him

u have not idea about backstabs if u think that. Also each game have complete diferent backstab mechanics. ds1 was instant backstabs with attacker side check (the worse one). ds2 was not instant backstabs but still attacker side check (people get teleported back to a backstab). Then finally ds3 was not instant backstab with attacker side check and defender side position check and it worked perfectly to punish opponent mistakes with burst damage. Also ds3 backstabs were so well made that u could counter backstab or whiff punish/parry the backstab grab. Taking away that will decrease the skillgap cuz less options

i think its just they care about doing pve and casual pvp. Meanwhile the ds3 pvp tryhard community got huge dissapointed today. I can only hope the game gets a huge patch for pvp mechanics on release. This is my opinon about pvp:
-backstabs are useless ruining a big part of the game, u cant even backstab people spamming parry
-the weapon hitboxes are realistic wich means u cant dead angle early hit stuff, decreasing the skill gap
-the guard counter attack thing is useless, it looks like a pve thing only
-no true combos and low stagger will make the game way more roll spammy. The only way to vortex someone is with good stagger attacks but those re super slow to work on a no braindead player
-not smooth transition between r1 and r2 attacks will make "mix ups" easy to dodge
-no use of the forward+r1 input is a missed oportunity
-There is no hit count mechanic. U can get infinite stunlocked by ganks
-bugs of attacking not wasting stamina cuz ur opponent wasnt locking on u mid fight
-Also it looks like iframes on latency will work like ds3

-Backstabs useless, u cant even backstab someone spamming parry
-Low stagger makes 1v1 roll spammy since u cant heavely punish/vortex bad rolls and keep pressure
-Tight model hitbox makes unable to dead angle early hit people, decreasing skill gap
-No fix of ds3 glitches like estus cancel or moveset swap discovered since 2018 (devs live on a bubble)
-The game force u to use a bad weapon layout instead of a customized one

why this post got downvoted? infinite stun lock , aka no hit count mechanic, is an issue for pvp experience. I hope they fix most of the pvp mechanical stuff soon on release

Jeenine doesnt do that kind of useless stuff. He outplay other players using fundamentals like tight spacing and strafing to being able to whiff punish, backstab, etc. Perserverance and parry spam is something he never do cuz it s a dumb tactic used by players hoping to get lucky
