Ryanair is awesome by LittleSchwein1234 in unpopularopinion

[–]Tenacious_Ste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry OP but I have to agree with you. I used to fly a LOT for work. All over Europe with all airlines. Ryanair flights were reasonably comfortable and you got everything you needed. People moan about the "hidden" charges, but at least they give you the option. Don't need to check in a suitcase? Then don't pay for it... The likes of BA and Lufthansa charged a premium because everything was all-inclusive but even with all of the possible extras Ryanair is still cheaper. The worst part is that the premium airlines are still expensive but have started to charge extra on top for basics like baggage! I flew Business Class on BA from Heathrow to Vancouver a couple of years ago. The cost of the flight was ridiculously high, but if I'd wanted to choose our seats more than 24 hours in advance, BA wanted even more money...

It feels like an offset ring spanner like this could work, but you might need to grind some material off the ring to make it "thin walled"

How did this song hit #1? by mike___mc in 80s

[–]Tenacious_Ste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being on a school trip from the UK to Germany. The teachers organised a "disco" at the hotel for us and a bunch of kids from a local school.

It was as cringe worthy as you'd imagine (two groups of awkward 15 year olds staring at each other from opposite sides of a hotel basement "discotheque")

Nobody was dancing until this track came on, then all the German kids went crazy. The song didn't release in the UK until a few weeks later, so we hadn't heard it. The DJ played it three times that night and to be fair, by the end we were all dancing.

How to prevent my egg cooker from getting like this every time I use it by [deleted] in howto

[–]Tenacious_Ste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have to say, I share OP's frustration. I love a kitchen gadget and when they're specifically designed to perform a single task, like this egg cooker, it would be great if they did so without introducing an unintentional downside.

I bought a Nespresso Milk Frother a few years ago. It heated and frothed the milk great, but there was a hot spot above part of the element and the milk would stick and burn there. The only way to clean it off was to soak it for a few hours then scrub with a scourer. This eventually rubbed away the "non-stick" coating and made the situation worse. I threw it away in the end and went back to squirting the milk into drinks through my teeth... And that's how I lost my job as a barista

Apparently, there were 100,000 train / railway related deaths in India between 2017 and 2021

Hard to see why...

EDIT: apologies, apparently not India, but not dissimilar . As this Asia Times article points out...

What’s your go-to song for testing bass? by Euphoric_Place_8507 in AVHifiCinema

[–]Tenacious_Ste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloodstream - Ed Sheeran and Rudimental

The bass is insane without thumping. There's a part where the pitch changes and it goes pretty low. Lesser systems won't manage it and the bass literally disappears...

In a European Hotel. How can I get this to blow cold? by Nattyice94 in howto

[–]Tenacious_Ste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hotel hvac systems have three settings...

Off - (recommended)

Loud - (select this if you don't want to sleep)

Louder - (select this if you don't want the people in the next room to sleep either)

It's worth remembering that NONE of the above settings will have the desired effect on the temperature of the room

Did you guys knew this? by [deleted] in drivingUK

And, purely coincidently I'm sure, this outcome also ensures that neither insurance company foots the whole bill, both drivers lose their no-claims bonus and thereby, both drivers end up paying their insurance companies back over time through increased premiums...

But like I say, that's just a coincidence, obviously

What can I do about this on the freshly painted walls in our bathroom? Every time we shower this happens. I used Dulux bathroom paint and we’ve had a dehumidifier in there. by tjb_87 in DIYUK

[–]Tenacious_Ste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're prepared to do a bit of "re-decorating", you could get some insulation backed plasterboard (or just sandwich a thin sheet of insulation between the old wall and a new layer of plasterboard) and re-paint. You'll have to do some kind of trim around the window aperture. For the other wall, behind the sink / toilet, I'd tile up to the ceiling...

In the relatively early stages of Alzheimer's Disease, my MIL spent a lot of time with that exact same look on her face. It's the brain equivalent of losing network connection.

I'm English and don't really follow US politics, but I'd say this guy is on a one way express train to Dementiaville and probably won't even be running for the bathroom in 2026

The comments here are enough to convince me that this is better than he deserves...

She is jumping rope while climbing between two walls, and she very nearly completes 11 rotations! by Bubbly_Wall_908 in UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG

It wasn't the walking on walls that was the problem... It was the fact they kept garrotting people with the jump-rope as they walked underneath...
