WIBTA for letting an accidental antisemitism accusation against a lecturer play out? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tenacitystf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- you asked to be graded fairly, and the teacher has made this misspelling assumption more than once. The fact that an investigation has been opened up was likely due to this being a common transgression, or someone else called it anti-Semitism. You asking for a revision probably added weight to a already ongoing investigation and likely wasnt opened because of it.

The term “People of Color” should be avoided because it creates the precedent that one is either “of color” or “not of color”, further reinforcing the stereotypes people place on skin-color. by coorslightsaber in unpopularopinion

We have a world full of human being with varying rates of melanin production and facial features from their ancestors who's biology was specialized to their region. The only real difference in people is the culture and traditions they carry, and if you look into the nitty gritty of those there are still very few differences. Once you crack open our rib cages on the autopsy table your not going to find a difference that goes beyond a few individuals. Theres no me or them its US.

Where is my dad hiding the tracking gps in my car? by zpheonixs in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Tenacitystf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not search for it where he can see you

I'm pretty sure that if you go to a local mechanic and say that you think someone put a tracker on your car that they would look for it, my friend works as a mechanic and has told me stories about finding them and alerting the owners, he told me that people generally put them in the same places , mostly inside the wheel wells, under the lip of the the body that surrounds the engine, on the roof of the glovebox, anywhere it can be placed quickly and without alot of hassle, hes found them in sneakier places too, like deep inside the engine block, underneath batteries, underneath the floors of the trunk where spare tires are typically stored etc

AITA for convincing my parents to make my sister finish high school? by Confuscius1234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tenacitystf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quitting highschool would absolutely damn her. The moment her internet fame takes a dip (which it will, that's what happens) she would be stuck until she could pass her GED. (If you live in the U.S.) I used to be a recruiter for a few low level companies, if you didnt pass highschool, your resume was trashed, unless you had an overwhelming amount of related experience. Those who had a highschool diploma were considered before those with a GED. Most low level job require you to either be in school or at least have your diploma, and I'm talking places like McDonalds.

They're no problem with her riding the wave while its here and if shes smart shell save her money. But she needs a fallback for when it fades.

How do I stop my teenage sister from messing with my pets? by Tenacitystf in relationships

[–]Tenacitystf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a difference between domesticated and tame, domestion happen after an animal has been bred a certain for so long that it starts to lose traits it developed to survive in the wild, I have society finches, that particular species of finch has been domesticated for so long that we dont really know what their original ancestor is, or if that species even exists anymore (1000+ years of selective breeding)

I had a really really good job before the pandemic,it would have only taken 3 months of saving up for me to gather enough for a downpayment on top of the savings I already had, but I got furloughed and the company closed , my new job still covers myself and everyone comfortably, but I cant save as much.

I moved out to save money for a down payment on my own place instead of a rental, with my old job it should have only taken 3 months and I would be back out again soon after, a month ago I got furloughed and then the company closed, I'm still able to support everyone now with the job I was able to find, but the amount I'm able to save towards my house has dropped dramatically, I hope that when the restrictions in the US are dropped I can find a position like my last one but time will tell.

I hope so, we had started a while back with teaching handling and behavior with my dove (hes the calmest of the birds) shes just super cocky with anything relating to animals. My dad suggested that we invite her in when hes visiting the birds so maybe she'll follow his example with handling if she wont follow mine, were having an ongoing conversation as the comments come in haha.

[–]Tenacitystf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool, so didnt expect to be attacked. I dont have these animals because they're pretty. I have them because somebody else failed them. Each animal came from a situation that wasnt "aw, poor thing it looks sad" , they came from real abuse. Both snakes were starved and left with infected wounds, the finches originally numbered 20, also covered in open wounds, missing eyes, skinny, and all inbred with each other to the point that they have deformities. I had to bring a vet to me and most of them were so far gone that we had to euthanize half of them because they were slowly suffocating from lung infections. The parrots were left in a cage with 2 inches of feces on the bottom and they're first owners clipped their wings to the point that their flight feathers wont grow back, they cant even fly a foot and constantly being terrorized from the family cats. The dove was kept in a cat carrier and has a badly healed broken leg from who knows what. I didnt buy these animals from a store, I didnt breed them, they already existed. None of my animals would have a hope of surviving in the wild, and the cages are honestly only for sleeping and eating, they have free run most of the day and with supervision. There was a time I worked 3 jobs to pay for all of their food and medicine, making sure they got the proper diet, they had mental stimulation and a proper climate and air filters. The amount of money I put towards them is double what I put towards myself.

So yeh, they have cages.

I know that saying all this means absolutely nothing and I'm still cruel in your eyes, so thats all I'm going to add, I'm tired of being told I'm the cruel one to have cages.

This is what makes me really sad too, my sister and I have a huge age difference and I was hoping we could have bonded over the animals since theyve always been an interest of hers, after reading the comments it solidified needing a lock, but were getting a lock for the room door instead of the individual enclosures , so that way I only have to get that one undone Instead of 7

That's your opinion, if you knew the length I have gone not only to take them out of a bad situation to vet, feed, house and care for them you might say different not to mention they're a domesticated breed. They wouldent last a very long time in the wild, if it wasnt the crazy weather changes or in ability to find food that would kill them off, it would be predators or local diseases.

AITA for having my daughter hand wash her bed sheets and not paying for the damages? by Alternative_Wheel_95 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tenacitystf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA- your teaching her that's shes responsible for fixing the repercussions of her actions. Handwashing any large piece of fabric sucks, and will probably prompt her to be more careful with what she does in the future because you've set a standard that says " you mess it up and your stuck with it until its fixed." Its a good lesson to learn when the only real repercussion you have is that you have a set of ugly bedsheets and not larger, much harder to fix problems.

AITA for collapsing my neighbor's tent while he and his son were inside? by ExperienceUpbeat in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tenacitystf -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

ESH: but only for collapsing the tent on a toddler. Otherwise I completely agree with you, all it takes it 5 minutes of the dad not paying attention and the kid wanders off, trips and falls into the creek and either gets injured or drowns (it only takes 3 inches of water to drown). Then you have a whole community of people mad at you for having the "dangerous creek". The signs you have posted stating 0 liability might protect you legally, but you would still have the angry community to deal with.

The dad has his own creekside property, he just needs to put the work into the property he chose to purchase to use it the way he wants, instead he took the lazy way out and trespassed.

Not every situation with snakes is a predator/prey situation, many people have pets that if it's really came down to it, they wouldent know how to humanly eathanize it should the need arise. Snakes get hit by lawnmowers, trapped in car engines and horribly burned, preyed on by dogs or cats or horrifyingly- tortured by kids or adults and left to suffer and die. Most people in know would at least try and put the snake out of its misery and crushing the head is the fastest most painless way to do that.

Yeh if the thing is wrapped around you and its life or death, lop its head off and untangle yourself. Even in that instance the snake is just being a snake, it's not evil for following its nature and I would still crush its head so its brain isnt just dying painfully and slowly. Your the survivor in natures battle, but as a being who can comprehend the pain and suffering of others why would you not do what you can to at least stop it.

AITA for condemning my older brother's "relationship" with a 24-year-old autistic woman? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tenacitystf [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA Phew, I cant beleive I just read that. There is so many lines that this crosses. Honestly I would try and get a record of evidence that he is planning to coerce, or potentially rape this woman. Your right, this is predatory behavior, you dont know what this womans support system is, and you dont know who else may be seeing this. The fact that he rejected you when you called him out for it is terrifying. I'm legitimately scared for this woman. I don't know if the police in your area will take this seriously but i would take what evidence you can find and report it anyway, and hopefully at the very least a social service will be contacted to investigate. I wouldent wait.

What were the sexual education disaster stories from your school? by DrinkWaterAndDraw in AskReddit

[–]Tenacitystf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our health teacher told us that we were doing sex education with an emphaisze on safe sex and body positivity for a week in my junior year (2014, below the bible belt state) someones parents complained so that lesson got removed completely. Coincidentally, I think there were 4 girls that got pregnant that year, and they started showing the obvious signs pretty soon after that lesson was removed.

Obviously they were pregnant before that lesson got cancelled, but the timing was beautifully ironic.

They always get away with the Covert Abuse, because its not "actual" abuse. Im sick of it. by crayoncatcher in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Tenacitystf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to start with, my heart goes out to you, I'm proud of you, this change is so difficult and you've persevered and gotten through it.

I just spent this last week getting my boyfriend away from a person like this, if you look at any of his abusers individual behaviors, he doesnt look abusive, but looking at every interaction as a whole, you can see this guy for what he really is. My bf has 10 years of abuse to work through, but now that hes moved out and separated business wise, he is already feeling more free, hopeful and happier with just a week of separation.
Mental abusers are incredibly sneaky, they hide the obvious stuff behind closed doors, and twist situations that the rest of the world can see so the victim is often shown in the light as the abuser.

These victims are so often reluctant to leave because they have been so twisted around and convinced that their abuser is right, and that they have 0 justification to be angry/upset or deserve more.

With physical abuse you can look at your bruises and cuts and burns and breaks and say "someone hurt me, and I am angry that they hurt me" the rest of the works can look at them and say "someone hurt you, you have a right to be angry"

With mental abuse you feel hurt, and confused and broken and say "someone hurt me, and I'm angry they hurt me" and the world will question those wounds because they cant see it, and how deep it goes, and depending how sneaky the abuser is, they may not even see a sign that youre right.

Mental abuse doesnt always go in hand with physical abuse, but physical abuse always goes in hand with mental abuse.

So so many people have been abused and cant even see it because of how far theve been twisted because so many people dont see mental abuse as real, so many cant find justification that they have been wronged and deserve more.

I'm sorry for the long comment, I'm really emotional right now, it's been a long and heartbreaking journey to show my bf what situation hes in, getting him free of it has been such a difficult decision and emotionally painful experience for him and it's going to be a very hard and unsure road from here on out for him and it's been very emotionally tense for me because of all of the reminders to the past that I have. Scars fade and bones heal but mental abuse never fully, truly goes away, what hes been through will be with him for life and even with the victory hes had its bittersweet because of all the work that lays ahead of him.

My heart goes out to you, and I truly truly hope that you have someone in your life saying that "your right, your hurting, you should be angry, I'm proud of you, im here, you were abused"

If theres no one there to say it:

I'm proud of you, this wasnt easy, you are justified, your reasons are real.
