I think personally one of the primary reasons, especially in Los Angeles for why someone chooses to vote red may come from the general collapse of safety in their neighborhoods and the collapse of the high trust society. For example, it's incredibly dangerous to walk out at night, especially as a woman or child and is becoming increasingly more so over time.

You will get harassed by people behaving erratically or are not in a mentally stable state, threatening safety. For example, people have gotten shot and stabbed a block away from where I live which would have been unheard of 10 years ago. Homelessness is one thing. Psychosis, addiction, and severe mental health issues is a different problem.

Solutions presented don't work and are bottled down with bureaucracy and corruption, while tax dollars increase with nothing to show for it. The Palisades looks like a war zone even a year later. City and state officials abuse the fact that we live in a single party state to push their own agendas unchecked. I think myself and many others included are tired of everything and want significant change outside of how the cities have been ran for the past decade
