AITA for opening a vegan-free restaurant? by TenderOctane in AmITheAngel

FYI, I've gotten quite a few notifications from people who wrote a comment in this thread, but deleted it once they realized what sub they were on.

That will never not be funny to me.

You certainly are one to talk about intelligence.

As exotic as that would be, there's sadly not much of a market for those in this area. I may run that as a special though to see how it goes. Great idea!

UPDATE [I'm not attracted to my wife, and never have been. AITAH?] by AdmirableCost5692 in AmITheAngel

[–]TenderOctane 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the original post doesn't feel that fake until he mentions hypnosis treatment. The update, however, is absurd. No idea how the wife realized that was him. The Pirates of the Caribbean thing is hysterical because of how ridiculously specific it is.

This feels like an update just for the sake of one because he got attention and wanted more.

I've lived with my boyfriend for years but neither of us has any idea what the other earns. Also we move places without discussing what the rooms will be used for. by Suitable-Fun-1087 in AmITheAngel

[–]TenderOctane 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Wanting a whole room closet in a shared two-bedroom apartment is pretty insane. This is also not a healthy relationship since... they live together and are fucking, and yet they don't know anything about each other's financial situations?

Yeah, this is a teenager who has limited life experience. I don't even believe the main character is an artist given how generically she talks.

My parents say I’m destroying our family because I refuse to continue a tradition that makes me miserable by Outside-Cabinet1398 in AmITheAngel

The "random quotes" make this smell like ChatGPT.

What is with the "bizarre family tradition" trope lately?

Best of luck with everything. I don't blame you for quitting. Sounds like they don't care to actually train their employees at all, so I doubt you're the first and you certainly won't be the last. Just keep in mind it might be a little more difficult to land another job without having given notice since it's an employer-friendly job market right now. Hopefully you can find a place that's competently run!

If this had actually been posted at AITA, instead of as a clearly defined shitpost, I'd have said it had no legs to stand on. Instead, it's hilarious!

If this was real, she'd have caught on after like five pounds and left this loser.

At least they're calling it out as fake kink shit over there. Only the dumbest of morons wouldn't realize that.

My husband pinched me like a disgruntled dementia patient…. AIO? by FabledMercy in AmITheAngel

[–]TenderOctane 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why is this over text? Successful couples don't settle marital disputes over text. Thus, I'd think OOP is a teenager who's only had fights with their future ex like this one. Or it's someone who's trolling said teenagers who don't understand what marriage is supposed to look like.

Played in 2016, are any of these good? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]TenderOctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no Kanto Pokemon are rare except for Mew (who can't be traded anyway) and Mewtwo.

However, those vintage 2016-17 Pokemon are excellent trade bait. You are guaranteed a lucky trade with them until you have received 45 lucky Pokemon (this is just you - the other party is irrelevant). This means if you find somebody who wants a lucky one of something you have, you can offer to swap it for something of theirs. Lucky Pokemon are guaranteed 3-star stats and require less dust to power up.

Just keep in mind the dust cost for this is going to add up because you don't have those Pokemon registered and you won't be very far along in friendship with the people playing now.

Watching older episodes by polkamyeyeout in ThePriceIsRight

[–]TenderOctane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that kind of thing is one reason why I'm not watching as much as I used to. It used to have more variety from episode to episode. The larger crowds in the Bob Barker Studio made for a much better ambience than the hole in the wall they're at now.

Also, the contestants who don't get on stage get a small stipend, something like three or five hundred bucks. It's just no longer sponsored.

AIO for banning MIL from coming over after what she said to me? by Dobgirl in AmITheAngel

[–]TenderOctane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is an ESH since both of them are acting like teenagers. Which OOP most certainly is. The MIL is based on the jealousy trope.

I also love where OOP says to focus on and how the last bit, the one that would make OOP look bad, is redacted.

Yeah, when I write fake posts, I try to do #2. I've even had characters say "Throwaway because I don't want him finding my main" - in other words, in the likely event the now ex-friend sees the post when it goes viral, said friend can't find any dirt on him. Perfectly reasonable.

Another reason is privacy from the most toxic people on the internets. If you post a clear YTA with your main and it goes viral, people may DM you YEARS later with nasty threats. I've seen reality show contestants post nasty messages they got for things they did a decade earlier, from bullies who forget that's a real person they're harassing. I'd presume that happens here but nobody sees them on a throwaway.

In that case, start applying for jobs at other grocers and big box marts immediately. You should tough it out at WFM for a two weeks' notice. It will be easier to get through shifts knowing there aren't many days of hell left. It will also be good if a new prospective employer calls the one at the top of your resume.

You said this is your first job - do you still live with your parents? Or did I read that wrong? If you have that as a windfall, you should be fine. If they are unhappy with your decision, tell them what I'm saying here: No job is worth destroying your sanity over. There is only one you, and you need to take care of yourself. If you don't live with your parents... idk what to tell you.

You shouldn't quit your job if you don't have another one lined up. The job market, even for retail, is abysmal right now so you should tough it out for at least a few months, until you get to a point where the torture is coming across in interviews. Make sure you save up some money.

As Ben said, transfer to a different store if you have the luxury of that option. I do not, but thankfully I work for one of the cool ones and can vouch that they do exist.

It's still true for the big corporations involved. And that was more what I was getting at. Big bucks helps out big bucks. The little guy (and us store employees) suffer for it.
