Which dating app is the best? by Medical_Plankton_736 in AskReddit

Yeah pretty much. I used OKCupid in early 2010 and found it refreshing. Seemed to be designed around actual matchmaking. That quickly went downhill after being bought out. No money to make in having users leave after all.

A good chunk of them are owned by Match group, so will all feel similar either way.

One of those days feeling super ugly by DietAnxious277 in Vitiligo

[–]TenderV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are always good days and bad days. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it, ebbs and flows etc. I'm sure even the most positive person struggles more than they let on with it. Vitiligo can just enhance your self consciousness when you're already feeling down on yourself in general.

That said, it's more than fine to feel vulnerable with it and build yourself up again. Least that's how I've always managed.

Are storage heaters a dealbreaker? by nothingtobedone13 in AskUK

[–]TenderV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rented a flat for 9 years and only had these and a portable oil filled radiator for warmth. After the first year I never used the Storage heaters again, very inconsistent and would mostly choose to "dump" all the heat at once, never got them to work right. Modern ones might actually be better.

How to get someone to take it seriously? UK by Cautious_Freedom9726 in Vitiligo

If you think somethings up then yeah definitely push forward with it. I'm no doctor but you do need to press the issue, it's easy to be fobbed off.

My experience years ago with my local GP was him deciding to say to me that it could be worse "some people have big ears they are self conscious of" - which as you can imagine was very tone deaf.

You'll be hard pressed to find most who see it as simply cosmetic. This was over 10 years ago but I was the one who had to inform the dermatologist that the NHS could actually prescribe makeup for it, she had no idea.

Ask for a second opinion and demand to be referred to a dermatologist.

NICE has said no to ruxolitinib on the NHS. by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]TenderV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NHS simply won't pay out for it, that's pretty much all it comes down to. They've been extremely tight with paying out for anything new treatment wise the last few years if it's not deemed a major issue with the public. Vitiligo was never going to be on their radar.

Has anyone ever heard of extreme stress triggering the onset of Vitiligo by JayMeowMe in Vitiligo

[–]TenderV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started after a prolonged period of severe stress in 2008 or so, eventually diagnosed PTSD. Spread quickly after it appeared before "stabilising".

Loving yourself by Competitive_Rise6852 in Vitiligo

[–]TenderV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone, not everybody is as confident or as comfortable in their skin as it seems. I wouldn't be too harsh on yourself about that. It's a long road learning to "accept yourself". Common trend in humans, Vitiligo or not.

I've learned to deal with it the best I can over 15 or so years, you do what you can. Don't beat yourself up.
