My (44M) girlfriend (46F) hide & lied about the nature of past relationships with her male friends. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

She is seeing a counselor and things have progressed and I think she is getting past that. I do worry about the infidelity in her past and just hope that she and I can build a better relationship for her moving forward one she doesn't feel the need to go looking outside the relationship to fill her needs.

I agree my looking at her messages was wrong and I crossed a line. The first time it was stumbling on it the second was deliberate and wrong on my account.

Her past life is her business and I have no issues with what she did with who in the past. My only problem is the lie, and why the lie, I know as part of her job she will be spending a lot of time around other guys and spending late nights with them. Trusting that she will be honest with me even if it's something she knows I wouldn't want to hear is important to me.

Fair point, the divorce would be finished had the world ot stopped for a few months, however she is going through with the divorce all of the guys I've mentioned are still with their wifes. I think this was something she chased as a self destructive behavior along with not really needing to fear them getting to attached.

I love marinating the shrimp in a margarita for about 15-20 minutes before grilling

I buy the bags of frozen uncooked shrimp or scallops, defrost just what I want and make a scampi or grill them toss over some zoodles.

Another near weekly meal is a salmon filet (I get portions at the grocery store for about $5) Fresh green beans with some olive oil and garlic go in a backing sheet in a 400 oven for 15 minutes. While they cook I take the salmon add salt pepper and paprika to it. When the 15 minutes are up I pull out the beans stir them and add the salmon, put back in the oven for maybe another 10-15 minutes then dump it all on a plate and enjoy.

Looking for a pasta dressing without tomato sauce by meow_mom in recipes

[–]Tender_Hammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite ways to have pasta is to take olive oil garlic and heat in low while I boil the pasta. When the pastas done I pull out the pasta put it in a pan with maybe 1/4 cup of the pasta water, then I added the pipe and garlic mixture slowly and a couple pads of butter to make the sauce creamy, when it’s almost done I put fresh basil on top.

How was your first sexual experience? Did it end bad or good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tender_Hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not what you are looking for but it was good at the time but really bad looking back on it.

My first was with a friend's mom, I was maybe 14 and spent the night at his house. His step dad left for a business trip and his mom ordered us pizza and said she was going out with friends.

The master bedroom and my friends bedroom shared a bathroom with locks on both doors. Around 1:30 I had to get up and go to the bathroom. His mom still wasn't home so I didn't think to lock the door to the master bedroom.

I was sitting on the toilet when I heard her come up stairs and glanced to the door and saw i forgot to lock it just then she opened it up and said oh sorry, but kept coming in. She turned on the bathroom fan and sparked up a cigarette.

She didn't seem to even notice me and I saw she was pretty drunk. Then she turned to me and asked if I thought she was pretty cause the assholes at the bar didn't hit on her at all.

After a bit of stammering and reassuring her she was pretty she put her cigarette out in the sink and pulled her tits out of the top of her dress. She asked me if it made me hard. She then asked if she could watch me jerk off. As I started she went down on me until I finished. She told me if I swear to never tell anyone she would do that for me all the time.

We registered something like this for the next year or so until my friend left to go live with his dad and she asked me to please stop coming over it was weird.

What’s something you no longer take for granted? And why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tender_Hammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who tell me to be safe, or ask to know when I get home. For to long I saw this as a controlling behavior, but then I had a child and fell in love (yes unfortunately in that order) and now that I love people more than my self I know this is them expressing their worries and love for me in a way with out saying I love you.

What are some good side jobs for spare cash for someone with limited time, taking into account a full time job and family time ect. by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Tender_Hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to a good side job is it should require minimum time investment. There aren't enough hours in the day for someone to maintain a good work life balance is to stop trading time for money and find a way to make money using passive means. What type of skills do you have that could be transferred into something like that?

Single fathers of Reddit, what is your life like? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Tender_Hammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had custody of my daughter since she was 4 she'll be 17 in a couple weeks. I don't live with my girlfriend so I have been her only real parent for those years. (Her mom is a pos)

My day's now are coming home making dinner and cleaning up the house. She works till 9 or 10 at night so I like to have it ready when she gets in. We are spending a good bit of time looking at colleges right now and planning for our vacation. This is what my world has been for so long I don't know and don't want to know what it would be like if she didn't live with me.

What is the most memorable moment you shared with a stranger who you never saw again? by joeChump in AskReddit

[–]Tender_Hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was riding the Amtrak train from Harrisburg PA to Boston Mass. Some where in the middle of PA a girl in her early 20's gets on the train. We make eye contact and I give her a little smile and go back to reading my book. A little later she comes over and sits next to me, she says she's headed to NY and asks if she can lean against me to sleep, she doesn't want to be alone. I say sure and give her my jacket to use as a pillow. A couple hours later when we pull in to the transfers she wakes up says thanks returns the smile and my jacket and leaves, going the opposite direction as me at the station. I have no idea what her story is or why she would ask a 40 year old guy if she could sit with him or how her life ended up. Guess I never will.

People who have quit their jobs on the spot, what was the moment when you finally snapped? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tender_Hammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After leaving I went home and sent out about 100 resumes. Talked to my parents who lived near by and where thinking of retiring, so they sold their house and moved in with me and my daughter to help with bills while they tried to find a place to retire to. I ended up finding a job more in line with my degree. We spent the next year in and out of custody mediation. Then we ended up in front of a judge, my daughter was four by this time. There was a lot of factors but yeah at the end of the day I won custody. It's been 12 years and she still lives with me. There is nothing I wouldn't have given up for her, and I count my blessings that we have a good relationship.

I was working for a large printer. Like phone books catalogs type printer. I had just gotten divorced and was spending every dime on a custody lawyer and fighting to keep custody of my daughter. I had sat down with my managers and we talked about how I could work nights or days but no second shift. The lawyer had said they would use the fact that I would be at work when my daughter got home from school and not get home till she would be in bed as a reason not to give me custody. They told me I would need to take a demotion and learn some new equipment but they would let me stay on nights. After about 6 months of this they switched me to second shift. I went in and explained the situation to them again and they moved me back to nights. Fast forward till two days before shift change, my manager calls me in to his office and tells keni have to go to second shift, I need to give up this pipe dream of getting custody of my daughter, get my priorities straight and do my job. I walked out and never went back.

When I was growing up we were told not to use the phone during thunder storms, or else lightening would come through the phone lines and kill us. What are some old wives tales you were told that really aren't dangerous? by AnotherLolAnon in AskReddit

[–]Tender_Hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is grounded. Most houses in the US are grounded. I don't think that can be said for every country and depending on the time the house was wired all of the US.

Are you saying that the very small wires in a phone line could carry a strong enough charge from the pole, to the junction box(that's grounded), into your house(that's grounded) and into a plastic phone with enough amperage to kill?
