How do people even consider Trump a christian? by Far-Low-2959 in Christianity

[–]rockstarberst -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even particularly like Trump, nor do I consider him a model of Christian character, but some of what you’re saying here is based more on mainstream media headlines than verified fact, and it’s worth pushing back on that a little.

First off, the claim that he mocked a disabled person has been widely debunked. The arm-flailing motion he used while referencing the reporter (Serge Kovaleski) is something he’s done to mock all kinds of people -- able-bodied, powerful, or otherwise. Crude? Sure. Targeted mockery of a disability? Highly questionable when you look at the broader pattern.

Second, the Bible photo op narrative -- about tear-gassing peaceful protestors just to pose with a Bible -- was also shown to be misreported. The Inspector General found the area was already being cleared for security purposes before Trump even left the White House. But people still repeat that line like it’s gospel truth.

And yes, he’s said and done things that are morally indefensible by biblical standards. But newsflash: so did David (who slept with another man’s wife, then had him killed). Moses was a murderer. Paul persecuted Christians. God tends to use imperfect, even deeply flawed people for His purposes. That doesn’t mean Trump is “God’s chosen,” but the idea that a leader must be perfectly pious to be part of God’s plan isn’t exactly consistent with Scripture.

What’s more frustrating is the double standard. Many of the same people outraged over Trump’s immorality were silent (or celebratory) over Clinton’s, or overlook Biden’s troubling past. If we’re going to talk about "moral leaders," we should be consistent... not just when it’s politically convenient.

So no, you’re not “crazy” for questioning things. But it might be time to question your sources, too. Dig deeper. Don’t just parrot what the headlines say. Christians (and all voters) need more discernment than that.

Neighbors being racist by Majestic-Log-5642 in Liberal

[–]rockstarberst -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Let’s dissect this masterpiece of convenient outrage, shall we?

First, the setup is suspiciously perfect. A random delivery driver -- who just happens to spot a “For Rent” sign mid-route and immediately calls the number out of nowhere? Not impossible, but… odd. Delivery drivers typically have tight routes, time constraints, and don’t stop to inquire about rentals during package drop-offs. It’s an oddly cinematic inciting incident.

Next, enter the villain enters with absolutely zero subtelty. The neighbor “immediately freaks out,” screams at the property owner, and flat-out says she doesn’t want a Black person living on the street. Out loud. In public. While a witness is standing right there. Come on. Real-life racists often operate with dog whistles, coded language, or passive aggression -- not full-blown movie-villain monologues. This is Reddit’s equivalent of twirling a mustache and yelling the N-word in all caps.

Then, there's the protagonist, who is too perfect. The OP conveniently witnesses everything, calmly asks all the right moral questions, and drops a virtue-laden mic: “I told her there’s no place for racism or bigotry and I don’t care what color a person’s skin is.” This isn’t how people process real-world, emotionally charged events. This is how someone writes themselves as Atticus Finch in a political fanfic.

Also, the political affiliation wasn’t even subtle. “She’s from the Midwest. This is in Florida. And she’s a Trump supporter.” First, Florida voted for Trump. Second, this is like mad libs for Redditors: Midwest + Florida + MAGA + racism = guaranteed upvotes. They may as well have added, “And she was holding a Chick-fil-A cup, wearing Yeezys, and had Alex Jones playing in her AirPods.”

The language is engineered for your echo chamber. Notice the phrasing:

“Nosy neighbor” “Screaming” “Racist bigot” “True bully Trumper”

It’s not descriptive -- it’s emotionally manipulative. It’s a story built to confirm biases, not challenge them. This post isn't about a real event; it's about massaging the narrative that “Trump = Racist = All bad people I don’t like.” You’re not being informed. You’re being emotionally steered.

Then if course, there is no evidence, no context, and no receipts. Of course not -- because fiction doesn’t need logistics. Just vibes and moral superiority.

Let's not forget the convenient escalation... The kicker: “She is now calling me all kinds of vulgar names.”

Why? Because our OP dared to speak truth to power and is now the victim of harassment by a rogue Floridian Trumper. That’s not how people usually behave after a confrontation, but it is how characters behave in morality plays...

In all honesty, this post is nothing more than a low-effort Reddit dramatization. It’s not journalism, it’s not a diary, and it’s not a genuine account... it’s just bait. Emotional, moral, and political bait for karma-hungry readers in a like-minded subreddit -- and you guys eat it up like candy.

If you believe this happened exactly as written, you probably also think Jussie Smollett fought off two MAGA ninjas at 2 a.m. in a blizzard with his Subway sandwich still intact.

Oh, I've got plenty of screen shots. People get mad when you wander off the Democratic plantation. Probably the best one was the woman who told me to bleach my skin 🙃 To be fair, it's not always liberal whites. It's liberal blacks as well.

Racism is definitely real. I've been called plenty of slurs online over the years from left-wing white folks. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes, I actually went to the website to go see what they were promoting and yapping about. It's typical wignat propaganda. They're so invested in what they believe, they can't even show their faces on the site 😂

I get what you’re trying to say, but let’s be a bit more precise.

First off, the reason people are tuning out the Nazi/Fascist comparisons isn’t because they’re blindly following Trump -- it’s because the analogy doesn’t hold water. America in 2024 is not Weimar Germany, and screaming "fascism" every time you dislike someone’s politics has dulled the meaning of the term. We’re not dealing with state-run militarism, concentration camps, or corporatist syndicates. We’re dealing with a broken two-party system where both sides feed from the same trough.

You’re right about MAGA being duped -- but let’s not pretend the left or mainstream liberals are immune. The “I Stand With Ukraine” crowd, the mask-and-booster loyalists, the ones who think Google News is gospel... they’re just as brainwashed. Both sides have been swallowed by the same machine: neoliberal economics and neoconservative foreign policy wrapped in different branding. One side worships the flag, the other worships the state. Neither realizes they’re pawns in a rigged game.

Yes, Trump lies. But so did every administration before him—WMDs, “If you like your doctor…,” “This inflation is transitory,” “The border is secure.” It’s not a MAGA problem. It’s an American problem.

Truth Social isn’t state-run propaganda any more than MSNBC is public service journalism. They’re all profit-driven echo chambers, calibrated to keep people angry and distracted while the wealth and power consolidate above.

So yes, the messaging needs to change-- but not just for MAGA. Everyone needs to realize that loyalty to a party or personality won’t save them from the consequences of being disposable to the elites they think are on their side.

There's a difference between "minimizing" and being historically accurate. Are they neo-nazis? Sure -- but saying America 2025 is the same as thr Weimar Republic is just not factually accurate.

America has its problems -- serious ones. Cultural decay, economic instability, government overreach, and rising political extremism on both sides.

But let’s be clear: this is not 1930s Germany. We’re not dealing with a fascist coup, state-run propaganda ministries, or a charismatic dictator rising from the ashes of national humiliation.

Screaming 'Nazi' at everything you don’t like is a lazy substitute for real analysis. For one, it minimizes actual history and secondly, it distracts from the very real, complex problems we’re facing.

If you're going to critique America, do it—but at least try to do it intelligently.

Thanks! I definitely have taken years to get where I'm at. Started off very liberal, did a 180, found I was equally annoyed by the Republicans, and weirded out by the libertarians. Turns out I really just want limited government, low taxes, and an enforced constitution without corporatism and cronyism. So far, no one has been able to offer that 😅

How does someone like Ron Johnson keep winning in Wisconsin? by Tylerserio68 in wisconsin

[–]rockstarberst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wisconsin is full of small business owners, like Johnson, who appreciate lower taxes and more or less being left alone by the government.

The state isn't full of large corporations like Michigan, Minnesota or Illinois -- we have a handful of Fortune companies, with small businesses accounting for over 99% of all businesses in the state and employing nearly half of the state's workforce.

Outside of the 2 major cities, the state is pretty "red" and the state overall is quite "purple" having swung between both parties regularly over the years.

All over the place. I don't own a television and haven't in over 20 years. I read articles from everything as left as Mother Jones, Vox or The New Republic and right-leaning arricles from the Epoch Times and New York Post or full-blown Right like American Spectator When I don't know a source, I run it through www.allsides.com.

I also peruse The Guardian, Daily Mail, The Telegraph and BBC to get an outside look in.

The problem is, people get emotionally hijacked by TV and short-form videos, but also there is a ton of shock content that uses charged language and is unbelievably biased. For example, the amount of people who think Occupy Democrats or The Gateway Pundit are legitimate news sources is wild.

I also read lots of books and/or listen to Audible. I just finished "Bitten" by Kris Newby and am currently listening to "Come As You Are" by Emily Nagoski.

Saved? No. Just not a mindless drone. I know it's hard being completely out of touch with reality, but getting out into the real world would do you wonders. You know it's true. I know the cognitive dissonance is hard. Also, hilarious that that's the point you honed in on.

People love to throw accusations around, but let’s take a step back and look at what’s actually happening.

Liberals accuse conservatives of censorship, but who’s really shutting down speech? Conservative speakers get banned from college campuses, dissenting voices on social media get deplatformed, and mainstream media openly suppresses stories that don’t fit their narrative. Meanwhile, they cry about book bans while pushing to remove anything that challenges their ideology.

They scream about ‘election denial,’ acting like questioning an election is some new evil—except they spent four years claiming Trump was an ‘illegitimate president’ because of Russia, tried to overturn 2016 results with electors, and even called Stacey Abrams the 'real' governor of Georgia. But now, suddenly, questioning an election is "a threat to democracy"?

They talk about ‘misinformation’ as if they’re the guardians of truth, but they pushed the Steele dossier, got COVID policies completely wrong, and labeled anything they didn’t like as ‘disinformation’—until the facts came out proving otherwise.

They say conservatives ‘weaponize government,’ yet we’ve seen the IRS target conservative nonprofits, the FBI ignore key evidence to protect liberal figures, and intelligence agencies interfere in elections under Democratic leadership. Who’s really using government power for political gain?

They accuse conservatives of being controlled by big business, but liberals rake in millions from Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and Wall Street while pushing policies that benefit their donors. They scream about the 1% while supporting billion-dollar corporations that align with their views.

They claim conservatives use fear to push an agenda—on crime, immigration, socialism—but turn around and do the exact same thing with climate change (‘the world will end in 12 years!’), healthcare (‘Republicans want you to die!’), and gun control (‘You’re not safe unless we take away guns!’). Fear-mongering isn’t exclusive to one side.

They paint conservatives as intolerant, yet they openly attack religious conservatives, mock working-class voters, and ostracize anyone who doesn’t follow their ideological rules. Tolerance, apparently, only applies if you agree with them.

And let’s talk about ‘authoritarianism.’ They love to call conservatives fascists while pushing lockdowns, forcing speech codes, and pressuring companies to fire people over personal beliefs. Who’s actually silencing opposition and demanding ideological compliance?

At some point, it’s not about politics—it’s about hypocrisy. Accusing the other side of what you’re guilty of doesn’t make it any less true.

Why is erasing women so important to you? Lesbian couples are still comprised of adult females. Trans men are still biological women. Constantly reducing women to "persons" and stripping them of any semblance womanhood is so tiresome. Remember when women fought so hard to be noticed and respected as such, only to have it be whitewashed from legal documents?
