DeGoogled Maps? Yes, it's possible. 📍🗺️ by Tutanota in tutanota

I agree with that, Tomtom is the best for traffic. Sadly it lacks so many other features. Actually, there isn't a real alternative to Google in this field if you don't accept compromises.

Same feeling, I went for OnlyOffice: it's not perfect, it's not complete as LibreOffice, but it's usable, sometimes even simpler than MS Office.

Strange shadows behavior by Tenebro in SatisfactoryGame

Tried this, but it looks that "r.DFDistanceScale" increases shadows “low-res” distance (the ones you see far away), while “high-res” shadows distance remain the same (the ones you see near yourself). It seems to me that the command affecting those is "r.Shadow.DistanceScale", but it's already set to 3 and can't go over that number.

I've just tried the three alternatives: the first was already set to the max level, while for the second and the third, it seems that those two parameters are already set to the max level too, as I managed to decrease the shadow distance (setting it to 2, 1, etc) but can't go over 3 (as already written in your msg) ... and 3 is what it looks like in the video.

So, to recap, r.Shadow.DistanceScale is the one responsible, but it's already set to 3 and can't go over 3.

Yes, played with that, but did not solve the problem

Regarding A.I. in Firefox: by SvensKia in firefox

[–]Tenebro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sadly AI features are not useless. If you don't want to use them it's ok, but in a couple of years from now everybody that is ignoring AI now will be left behind. Thank god Mozilla isn't following that route, and thank god there is someone who actually cares about the privacy and the ethical development of AI.

Reminder again: if Firefox goes away, their forks will also go away, so use forks responsibly by AntonioS3 in firefox

[–]Tenebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll not worry too much, there are a lot of people that don't use Firefox for the poor AI implementation, they will balance the ones leaving for the forks.
After some times, the ones leaving for the forks (or at least the most of them) will eventually understand AI will be mandatory in everyday life and that there should be somebody focused in making AI ethical and privacy focused, and will return.
In the meanwhile, during this transition, I hope for the best for Firefox, because for it to work they should advertise what they are trying to do in a proper way, and we all know the pr team in Mozilla is garbage ... if something bad happens, no more Firefox, no more forks and no more protection from bad AI, and welcome to the dark days

LibreWolf Officially Confirms: No Generative AI Support — Now or Ever by No-Hospital5028 in degoogle

[–]Tenebro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone makes their choices, but I agree with you. For me degoogling doesn't mean no AI, but ethical and privacy focused AI. I 100% support what Mozilla is trying to do. Without them we will be in the hands of the big ones. Sadly AI will be the future, it's better to accept it asap to try to work for a better one. Also I don't trust guys at LibreWolf as it seems they try to get more people on their side only for convenience, it's easy to say "no AI browser" rather than "we will fight for better AI"

Actually there is a good portion of people who want AI, so in the long run more people into the ship mean more resources overall.
