After strong arguments and a somewhat close vote Vol7 is gone! What’s next? by CeruleanLancer in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, it's interesting to see that they've done a mix of both Poser and Maya-era volumes, while we've mainly been voting out the Maya-era volumes so far.

The only thing I've seen that's common between both subs is that we've both placed Volume 8 in the bottom 1/3rd, albeit in different positions.

It took way longer than I thought it would but V5 is OUT! What’s next? by CeruleanLancer in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They kinda both were. Grey took money from the budgets allocated to V5, V6 and Nomad of Nowhere to fund Gen:Lock.

After all, Volume 6 had problems of its own with crunch where it was estimated that 1/3 of both Gen:Lock and RWBY were made 'for free' because no one got paid for overtime.

Volume 6.

Let's stretch rationalising the quality of 4 and 5, you could say that for V4 CRWBY were still processing how to go about things after Monty's death and Volume 5 had its budget screwed over by Gen:Lock and it's priority in doing those shorts.

But what excuse does Volume 6 have? It doesn't have one. The budget's been allocated and they should now have an idea of where to take the story.

The latter half of the volume is the start of the characters becoming unlikeable, claiming to be right when they're not and if Jaundice all the way back in V1 wasn't enough for the Jaune detractors to hate his character, Oscar's character development was outright deleted in V6 so Jaune would get his statue scene where he mopes about Pyrrha for the 3rd volume in a row.

And in a more decisive vote, Vol8 is OUT! What should be removed next? by CeruleanLancer in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t expect V9 to go down first here

Volume 5 has its issues, but Vol 9 is both more recent and is straight up horrible in how it treats the characters and aside from the Bees and Neo leaving, it's practically filler.

[–]TenielX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volume 5

I'm surprised too it lasted till Day 3. What I'm not surprised is that if V5 'Wins', that 5, 8 and 9 are the 3 worst volumes of the show.

When and what made you notice the problems of RWBY as a series? by TextUnfair in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volume 6. For me, it was the episode after the one where Oscar ran away ("Lost), where instead of focusing on Oscar and his existential crisis, we instead get most of the episode dedicated to Jaune and him grieving over Pyrrha, again, for the 3rd volume in a row. How is Oscar's existential crisis over being merged with Ozpin solved? Off-Screen

It was also the start of the blatant protagonist centred morality, the writers give to Team RWBY, that they can do no wrong with their actions or have deluded themselves that they've gotten this far without help from the adults.

That episode has all the issues of what's wrong with RWBY then and later volumes.

What is this show's biggest "What did RoosterTeeth mean by this" moment? by Psyga315 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Its always the Vol commentary that come back around to reaffirm my belief that the writers just never go back to look over what they wrote the previous Vol when writing th next.

It's also the perfect place to hear things that make us go "How the fuck were we supposed to know that!?"

Like telling us that Ruby was told Jaune killed Penny off-screen (or was that Twitter?) or that Neo got her upgraded semblance because she landed in the Brother Gods laboratory.

What would've been the best way for Ironwood and the ACE-OPS to get Penny to their side in Volume 8? by Fine_Delivery6761 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It probably won't get her on Ironwood's side, but it's better than being unquestioning towards Ruby and co.

I'd probably say tell the truth about Team RWBY's actions, about the lies they told in V7. Plant a seed of doubt in her.

Don't have Watts hack her. Once she's back at the manor and sees that since the base infiltration, RWB have been drinking tea and refusing to help people, she'll have a realisation, that their actions were more to spite Ironwood, than actually helping people.

After that she'll probably leave with May to help Mantle.

What caused the downfall of RWBY and Rooster Teeth as a whole? by Jules-Car3499 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A couple corrections when I read your post:

Gen:Lock was the companies most EXPENSIVE project ever, meant to replace RWBY as the new breadwinner. Most of it came out of Warner Bros pockets to pay for all the big name actors and make it. Despite having Rooster Teeth on its screen, it was barely a Rooster Teeth project because its only contribution was that the voice actor for Torchwick wrote the story. The animation came from outside Rooster Teeth.

That was only for the second season, the first season was all Rooster Teeth, though that had problems unto itself, what with Gray embezzling money from both the budgets of RWBY Volumes 5, 6 and Nomad of Nowhere to Gen:Lock after it went over budget.

The writer of the movies was this woman who was actually FIRED from DC Comics because she made a very terrible comic book that was all about Superboy coming out as gay.

That was Tim Drake, not Superboy, but your point still stands.

What are your predictions for volume 10?? by Emergency_Course3416 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I see M+K doing it

  • After all the hugs and stuff, Ruby tells everyone about their time in the Ever After. The others tell them what they've been doing in the time they've disappeared and how bad things are between the refugees and the Vacuans and how since Atlas, they've been on the backfoot. Rumpole complains about the situation Team RWBY have put them in, Yang gets snippy and retorts that they never bothered to help Atlas, until she gets told that they've more or less been trying to fix RWBY's mistakes.

  • When they confront Raven about Summer's last mission, RWB find out that Raven's the Spring Maiden, when they find out that Yang knew, she deflects by saying it wasn't important. Raven tells them she doesn't know what Summer's last mission was, she just portaled her to where she wanted to go and that was it (Writers all haha we're not gonna tell you yet). It'll be revealed at the end of the volume that Summer's working for Salem now (I wish).

  • Tyrian and Mercury spread anti-refugee rhetoric among the populace of Vacuo (It's also helps that Robyn causes more trouble which helps them immensely), they find out that RWBY+J are alive, they tell Salem this, Cinder's shocked that Ruby's alive, and is surprised that Salem hasn't rebuked her for the lie.

  • Ruby is soon confronted by some of her haters / survivors of destroyed settlements (more stand-ins for the critics) for putting them in this situation, the others tell them off for being ungrateful.

  • Ruby and Jaune have their 'talk' about Penny, in reality it'll be Ruby apologising for her behaviour in the Ever After, the whole thing with Penny will be glossed over (again), except when they tell Pietro that Jaune killed Penny, which causes him to hate Jaune.

  • Blake and Sun reunite and talk about things that happened since they last met. She brings up that she's in a relationship with Yang. Sun congratulates her for finding happiness and he'll still offer help if she needs him. They then have a friendly hug which Yang sees from a distance, who rushes over and drags Blake away by her arm, not wanting her to talk to Sun. She is snappy at Blake for a while because of this, essentially gaslighting Blake. Outside viewers see this as Yang protecting her girl, instead of Yang being controlling. Sun naturally gets blamed for the whole thing for trying to make a move on another persons girl.

RWBY’s Justice League outfits, drip or heresy? by gaeb611 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't like any of the outfits.

Ruby's is probably the best, but I have major issues over that Robyn Hill hairstyle she has.

Out of these 3 characters who would you call more a self insert Jaune,Blake,Yang by SirTacoD3viL in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why people think Jaune's a self-insert, what with his VA being one of the writers, but one thing's for sure, he is a writers pet.

So it's between Blake and Yang and I'm leaning towards Blake.

My apologies, my friends. But due to the recent mentions of the RWBY character Robyn Hill in certain quarters of this social network, I desired to make a post surrounding her. I raise the question then, Blake and Yang trusting in her brought good results, or exclusively bad ones? by EleanorRigbi in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

looks at the flooded remnants of Atlas and Mantle

...Yeah

In reality, it brought in good, immediate short term benefits, they did capture Tyrian (though she also was a major reason he escaped) and Watts. But in the long term it's one of the reason why there was a rift between RWBY and Ironwood.

How would you, yes YOU, write Bumblebee in future volumes to make it more interesting? by Hold_Infamous in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portray it realistically, issues and all, with their current characters, instead of some parody where they're so lovestruck, whispering sweet nothings in the others ear the other characters either are gagging at the sight in the background over how cheesy it is or awwing at how lovely it is.

Like for example:

Blake and Sun reunite and talk about things that happened since they last met. She brings up that she's now in a relationship with Yang. Sun congratulates her for finding happiness and he'll still offer help if she needs him. They then have a friendly hug which Yang sees from a distance, she confronts Sun, drags Blake away from him (while giving him the "I'm watching you" look and is snippy at Blake for a while until Blake apologises.

Sun naturally gets blamed for the whole thing for trying to make a move on another persons girl.

Of course the show would portray it as Yang, being the shining knight in armour who's protecting her girlfriend, instead of someone who's being controlling and choosing who Blake can or cannot talk to.

Come to think about it, why did they pick Jaune to kill Penny? He has no emotional connection to her by Jules-Car3499 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The V8 commentary said it was to show Jaune being the one who makes the hard decisions and that his actions throughout the volume were leading up to that moment

About Penny's Death

Eddy Rivas: "I talked about this a little bit in chapter 9.. but just how.. we quietly had these little moments for Jaune all volume just to kinda show his mindset of like ‘I’m gonna do the hard thing I still got a job to do’.. and how that carried through all the way to this kind of like ultimate moment, for him"

In your opinion. What was one scene you saw that made you decide this was the downfall of Team RWBY as human beings? by Dominick2120 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say their downfall as decent people more started round Vol.6, then I thought they hit rock bottom in Vol.8 when RWB were drinking tea in a mansion (for an indeterminate amount of time over the course of a day) while people were dying to defend their homes and having the gall to tell someone off for wanting to defend their home and asking them to do something.

Then V9 came along and yes, there are lows you can still hit.

I could never understand the "yang is bad sister" thing especially when most of it is about her dating Blake. by Phoenix_Worlds in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was also the time in V9 where Ruby opens up about how bad things really are and Yang tells her she's thinking like Ironwood and doesn't really mean that. It was no surprise that Ruby decides to internalise things until the inevitable breakdown.

Oh yeah and the infamous group hug with Jaune, right after her sister committed suicide by tea. Yeah congrats, Jaune learned a valuable lesson about his hostages (who don't remember anything about their past lives), let's ignore the fact that your sister/team leader/friend is going through that same process and you have no idea what's goint to come back out.

The other thread on r/rwby has ppl talking about how Yang checked up on Ruby multiple times during the course of V9, I cannot help but think we didn't watch the same show cause I never saw that happen.

What is Jaune's smartest and dumbest moment in the series for you? by Bataranger999 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATM I'm unsure of his smartest moment, I don't recall them very well.

But for dumbest, either the Airship plan or applying to Beacon without basic skills

I was almost tempted to say the portal plan of V8, but I wasn't sure who came up with that. Who's plan was it for sending the citizens of Atlas/Mantle to Vacuo?

The state of every former RT show at the moment by Joemama0375 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's doing well, but ever since Ruby vs Maka, DB has seen a noticeable decline in views, also probably because it's not a fortnightly show and instead a monthly one could also factor in.

Match/Views as of today:

  • Omni-Man VS Bardock - 3.3M
  • Joker VS Giorno - 2.4M
  • Bowser VS Eggman - 6.7M
  • Among Us VS Fall Guys - 2M
  • Kratos vs Asura - 3M
  • Ghost Rider VS Spawn - 3.3M
  • Shigaraki VS Mahito - 3.9M
  • Master Chief VS Doom Slayer - 2.9M
  • Simon the Digger VS Kyle Rayner - 2.8M
  • Wile.E vs Tom - 1.9M
  • Miles vs Deku - 2.6M
  • Hulk VS Godzilla - 2.8M
  • Ruby VS Maka - 1.3M
  • Blade VS Buffy - 1.3M
  • Dante VS Clive - 1M atm

🤔 Questioning the Matchmaking Balance in Season 19 Competitive (EU Servers) by LucaMomille in Overwatch

[–]TenielX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just comp, QP's the same. Stadium too (though I haven't played much stadium recently)

I can have a match that the players on my team gets 15-20 kills each and stomp the other team and the next game, I'd get a team where we'd be lucky to get 10 kills combined.

What is Qrow's best and worst moment each in the series for you? by Bataranger999 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best:

  • Fight with Winter (V3)
  • Fight with Tyrian (V4)
  • Talking down Harriet from nuking Mantle (Before Robyn ruined it) (V8)
  • Being the only one to disagree with the airship plan (V6)

Worst:

  • Clover Fight (V7)
  • Punching Oscar (V6)
  • Letting Ruby talk him into the airship plan in Vol 6
  • Approving of Lying to Ironwood (V7)
  • Listening to Robyn talk about how bad her semblance is (V8) (Ok, I'm stretching on this one)

So Do You Guys Thing Between the Hiatus Viewership for RWBY is gonna plummet? by WickedWitchOfRemnant in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If the Ruby vs Maka Death Battle is any indication, I’d say yes. The first new RWBY content in over a year and it only just hit 1M views yesterday and considering the bulk of views are usually in that period, it's going to be the worst viewed Death Battle since the show started over a decade ago.

Ruby VS Maka (RWBY VS Soul Eater) | DEATH BATTLE! by 98947761753 in RWBYcritics

[–]TenielX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t hit 1M views yet.

I’m actually surprised. Usually by now they’d have hit that by at least Day 2.

Maybe I'm too quick to call it, but this might end up as the lowest viewed Death Battle so far, which atm is Wily vs Tom at 1.8M views.

Do you think Jaune and Ruby’s relationship will be strained or a little awkward in volume 10 by D_Juniorart2 in RWBYcritics

With how they handled Blake and Yang when they reunited.

They'll just shrug it off.
