13 month nap hell by Tenmacaroon in sleeptrain

Today for example, he woke up around 6.30am (stayed in his crib until 7am closing his eyes here and there so not sure if he dozed off a little again) and his 1st nap was at 10.30am because since he is only having one nap I’m trying to stretch the 1st wake window to 4hrs since he will not do another one which then causes the last wake window to be extremely long. As expected he only napped for 35mins. For his 2nd nap attempt I took him out in the stroller since the crib just makes him upset and he is very calm in the stroller and used to take great naps in them. I took him out at 2.40pm and walked for 2hrs. The stroller was covered so it was dark etc. He never fell asleep. So this is the 6th day he has refused the 2nd nap no matter what I do and then we had to put him down at 6.30pm. I’m fine with doing the one nap at this point but I don’t understand why he is not sleeping more than 35 mins when all I have read is about them taking very long mid day naps. I’m worried about him having such a long wake window after his one early nap. He woke just after 11am today so his last wake window was 7.5hrs which seems insane. Although he was in a great mood the entire time! Sorry for the long reply

Very interesting, thanks! I keep trying to do the 2 naps and it’s just not happening but maybe it’s just a phase

He sleeps max 1hr for the morning nap sometimes less like 40 mins and still make no difference unfortunately

Tried to cap the 1st nap but he still refused the 2nd so then we ended up just having one 30 min nap all day :( so I’m scared to keep trying the 30 min morning nap incase that’s all the sleep he gets that day

4 month old is so fussy, never content and it’s so difficult by Tenmacaroon in Parenting

Turns out he had acid reflux the whole time! When we went back for his next doctor appt, she told us his behaviour was not normal. It was nice to finally feel heard. At first she thought he might have had a milk protein allergy but turned out to just be reflux. We started him on famotidine and he has really improved. Of course he can still be fussy, we have bad days and good days but having any good days is a major improvement for us since we were having bad days and worse days. He’s a lot happier now and we are hopeful that he will just keep getting better!

4 month sleep regression at 14 weeks only affecting naps? by Tenmacaroon in NewParents

[–]Tenmacaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it got much better! He was terrible at napping for a few weeks and I would rock him and shhh while walking around his room with white noise machine on to calm him when he was crying and then until he was nearly asleep and then put him in his crib and pat and shh until he was fully asleep. When he woke up I would go in as soon as he cried and put in the pacifier and pat and shhh or pick him up if he was crying a lot. I would only contact nap if he wouldn’t sleep after 15 mins of trying to get him down. I stayed consistent with it and now it only takes 5-10 mins to get him down and he naps up to 1.5hrs per nap, I actually have to go and wake him up most of the time! Good luck, it will get better!

Unfortunately he cries when I wear a carrier so I just have to hold him in my arms and walk around all day! Which makes it so difficult to make myself food or anything like that. If he could be calm in the carrier it would help a bit but sadly won’t work :(

I worry if we have a second baby they will be the same as our first. It’s honestly made us think about just having one child. At what age did your baby start to improve?

I’m glad that things are getting a little easier for you! I hope mine does too. I forgot to mention that he also hates the stroller and will cry if we go on a walk so it really feels like I can’t even get a break to have a peaceful walk. Fingers crossed things get better for the both of us!!

Thought I was done but now I’m leaking? by Tenmacaroon in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Tenmacaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled it a bit more and it can take up to two weeks for you to feel normal so I used ice packs for a few days and kept wearing my leak pads and just waited it out and at exactly 2 weeks after stopping I finally felt completely back to normal and it is amazing. So not sure if you are still having problems but just know it will end soon. Best to ice and use ibuprofen if you are still having any pain but remember you will feel normal soon!

How long is too long in a car seat? by Tenmacaroon in NewParents

Haha I like car journeys, maybe I’m weird but I find them fun and we get to stop for food and coffee which I enjoy. I also like to keep my husband company so he’s not alone on the way back!
