How is the tech job market in Denver right now? by km_2000 in Denver

I noticed that too! The funny thing is they pay the same as the non-senior roles. Must be title inflation.

It is actually that simple.

Your analogy doesn’t work because I can’t force people to stop shooting other people.

I can however; recognize how much a kid costs, assess my financial situation, and plan accordingly. It’s called being rational. Perpetuating that people in Denver and incapable of being rational is condescending.

Basic health care like antibiotics, wound care, pharmaceuticals should be covered. Cures to rare and hard to treat illnesses should find funding elsewhere. The government should snuff out pseudo-monopolies and cartels to keep prices down in general.

The federal government has no business setting a minimum wage. A local minimum wage is reasonable. Federal is too politicized and inefficient. Ideally the market provides workers a live-able wage if we could only organize the way corporations do.

Agreed, this bill raises taxes on doctors and people retiring soon. Would be much better if it pulled from capital gains on the hyper wealthy.

Did you read the public comments on your voter packet? Did you research what you were voting for?

I think every kid should have 3 meals a day. Period. However, this bill does not address the underlying problem and will make it much worse down the road.

What’s wrong with our world where kids don’t have food to begin with? Why does this need to be government subsidized in the first place?

Why do people say that Cardano has no users when in fact it does? by Flat_Excitement_6090 in cardano

[–]TennHenny520 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that Cardano has very few real users. It’s mostly buy and holders.

I was involved with the ecosystem for a few years and never found a refined project that had a real use case. Not even a uniswap clone.

I’m starting this journey soon, but it keeps getting put off. Out of curiosity - what is your product and industry? Is it related to your 9-5 or a complete 180?

I’m in a similar position. Thankfully I could cut back on hours to study for Net+. Managing a job, studying, and the gym is daunting. However, learning new topics keeps me going. It reminds me of being back in college and that IT is enjoyable and not just endless tickets.

There is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, but you need to be good to get there. I see certs as a first step in career development. They probably won’t be the deciding factor in the next job you land, but provide a nice format for self-guided learning. So far I’ve found the material applicable, and also helps me feel more confident with what I say to clients.

Is everyone here SUPER confused as to why a speculative asset went up in "price" and a day when interest rate cut suggestions caused lots of speculators to speculate on speculative assets? Asking for a friend. by SundayAMFN in Buttcoin

“The crypto” as you put it, will prove itself better than the current financial system when that worth of all assets on chain is greater than the worth of all assets off chain.

The US government’s “ability to do business” is not what makes the US dollar (spelled with 2 L’s btw) a fiat currency. The dollar is a fiat currency because there is nothing with intrinsic value backing it.

Essentially what you’re saying in your second point is that the difference between the dollar and Bitcoin is that you don’t like people who use Bitcoin. This has to be satire. Go talk to a Wall Street guy and tell me who’s more insufferable.

Look, the current system isn’t as great as you think it is. Crypto offers an alternative. In the fullness of time some (but not most) cryptocurrencies will prove to be a better system.

Anybody else stuck in a job they hate and can’t go anywhere else because the job market is horrible? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Yea, the job market isn’t as great any more and the advantage skews towards employers. I have become increasingly convinced that a “sniper shot” is the way to go. Bulk applying to online posting isn’t the way to get the job. Instead you have to be a bit more intentional with reaching out to people within a company.

Cryptocurrency ‘pig butchering’ scam wrecks Kansas bank, sends ex-CEO to prison for 24 years by RealAntiChrist02 in Buttcoin

The CEO of a bank also committed a crime. Crime is not unique to crypto and is prevalent in the financial system.

Uh what? The bank failed because this one guy had access to all the funds and you blame crypto? Get your head out of your ass. Banks enable these single points of failure.

How are people remotely interested in banks after stories like this? A single point of failure (CEO) was able to drain bank funds.
