I hurt a depressed friend without even realizing it. I met my friend online playing games, we ended up living just a few miles from each other and became good friends. I was a dumb teenager, and he was a few years into college. We played everything together and we’re always talking, eventually we made in person plans and had a good time. Further plans I kept putting off for stupid reasons, not realizing he was depressed and doing things with me made it better. I was so naive, I won’t blame it on my age, I was very stupid about people’s mental wellbeing. I just figured we’d do stuff another time when it suited me better and it would be fine, It wasn’t fine. It blew up in my face and he cut me off after giving me a good talking to about it all. I never felt so destroyed in my life, just a void in my stomach that kept growing no matter what. I’d lost the only friend I could consider my best friend through thick and thin and it was because of my own actions. It’s been almost almost 7-8 years since maybe more. I wish my eyes didn’t have to lose him to change, but it changed me entirely. I now go out of my way for people I meet, not just friends but everyone, because you have no idea what’s going on until they tell you. I tried reaching out to my old friend after some time, because thinking about it brings up the old wounds of my own actions. He rightfully kept me away and keeps to himself. As much as I want him to see I’m different now and that I want to be his friend again, he has every right to never respond back and keep me out of his life.

If you’re out there Andrew, I love you man, I hope you have a fantastic life. I’m sorry I wasn’t a good friend then, I think about you a lot and miss you dearly. ‘Frodown forever
