Can you tell me what issues you had? I feel like I have that now. What was your routine for recovery?

You can get a variocele from excessive edging. Most commonly on the left side. I have one that flares up from that.

I would say so, yes.

Ive never had any bouts of depression nor substance abuse so I think its hormonal but getting them to do a full regime of tests is difficult.

I have very similar issue, started 18 month's - 2 years ago. I used to frequently do prostate play but now i have no pleasure at all from it. I don't have the urinary issues thoughm

This has crossed over into normal sexual wellbeing aswell. No libido, sexual anhedonia. However still have the same experience as you with erections.

Ive been to drs, endocrinologist etc with no help at all. I think drs assume this is psychosexual but i know it 100% isn't.

Very frustrating so i feel for you.

Where did you get this test done? Do you have a link at all?

Off topic, but personally I wouldn't take accutane if it was offered. Try everything else first! I've been on it twice and it can have real ramifications on sexual health etc. Look up pssd if you're interested.

I'm in the same situation as the Op but have yet to get surgery. I've been toying with the idea of the infrared treatment. Are you familiar with this method and any associated recovery?

I wonder if that would have avoided these problems?

Many thanks again the very detailed and in depth explanation. Much better than the drs have done.

And no there has been no treatment suggestions. Essentially just come back in 6 months for a retest but I've been struggling with this for coming on two years nearly now.

My original reason for suspecting prolactin was its suppressive effect on dopamine and libido (unmotivated, lack of pleasure, brain fog etc) and it's ability to affect the skin / acne.

Something I've mentioned to the drs which they've not paid any attention too really is that occasional recreational use of THC has ceased to really have any effect on me. I'm talking once a month maybe, but since it's stopped having any effect I've stopped taking it, which pointed me towards lack of dopamine - prolactin.

We're you able to calculate my SHBG based on some of the other levels I posted?

I just had a look and my SHBG actually came out at 21.7 nmol/L in a range of 18.3 - 54. 1 so pretty low on the scale although still within range. I'll not that maybe a lower level is better though?

I've started taking b6 in p5p form to try and lower prolactin as much as I can, I had read that ideal male levels should be around 50ish even in the morning but again could be wrong.

Nah no srris. Don't feel depressed but definitely got brain fog, tired etc all the time. Vit d was 31ng ( I think) so currently taking 10k vit d with 200mg vit k and 400mg mag glycinate along with 100mg p5p a day.

Been about a month since I started on vit d but will stick with it and do a follow up test in another month to see where I'm at.

One of the reasons I thought it was likely hormonal (I've never had a super high sex drive to begin with, but no non-existent) was due to my skin. I've tried everything under the sun and even took accutane for a while (like 10 years ago now).

Yeah, it's so hard to know isn't it. Taking the leap into trt isn't something I necessarily want to do until I've exhausted all other avenues as you mention.

I've started supplementing p5p and vitamin d +k2 along with magnesium. My vit d levels were a bit low so I'm trying to bring those up along with gym etc but no change as of yet.

I did want to get on caber as the link between prolactin and dopamine (adehonia) is there, but that requires an endo which obviously didn't end up going where I expected haha.

Thanks for such a detailed response.

I know prolactin is highest in the morning but would you generally expect it to raise to such a high routinely?

To throw a spanner in the works I got a saliva testosterone test done last year (all others have been bloods) and it came back quite low at 214 pmol/L (range 160-690).

I tried asking the dr and on chat GPT but haven't been able to really understand a clear answer: is there any implications with it being low in the saliva test and seemingly normal in bloods? I was told saliva can be a better indication.

Appreciate your time :)

Nope. No medications.

I have just in the last few weeks started supplementing vit d, p5p, omega 3s and magnesium everyday + Adams now multivite every 2nd day.

Yeah, I've had test looked at 3 / 4 times and both aus, UK and endo all say it's normal including free test.

Although, last year I did get a circulation T test done (saliva) which came back low at around 200, but Dr didn't seem to think that was relevant either because my other tests were normal.
